Default Post nForce2 rumors/specs anyone?

What nVidia said @ semiconductor conference yesterday:

“We are going to completely focus all of our energy on the AMD platform. By the end of this year we'll have a chipset family that spans nForce 1 on the bottom, nForce 2 in the mid-range as well as a chipset for the high-end that is a companion for the K8 Hammer family by the end of this year. So we should be top to bottom by the end of this year for the Athlon family.”

So more new chipsets (well at least 1 more) from nVidia are coming this year not only NV30/nforce2

“nForce 2… you know... the rumors are already on the street that the nForce 2 is going to be based on GeForce 4… so our next generation core logic is probably going to be something on the lines of this.”

So confirmaton from nVidia that nForce2 will be based on Geforce4 chipset.

You can listen to the whole speech if you want to here - http://www.veracast.com/ssb/2002/sem...r/63102224.cfm (but its over 40min long)

As long as it supports DDR400 and you can get it without the integrated GFX, I am all for it.

Default Post remember what the nforce is geared for

remember what the nforce is geared for, it's supposed to be a high performance alternative
to other highly integrated motherboards. i'm actually looking at putting together an abit
NV7M nForce 420 (microATX) box, talk about a lan box, it will be tiny!
