Default Post BETA TESTING: nvidia Omega drivers 1.0.2941

For all of you who didn't got selected in the first beta round of my drivers, now there is a second generation of the drivers, and they will be in OPEN beta testing.

The LOD for OpenGL is now more conservative than the one in the first beta round, It will look better than before, with less aliasing and shimmering. As for D3D, no luck yet, no way to adjust the LOD to a perfect setting yet (the drivers will still beta until I figure out how to make the LOD settings work correctly in D3D, if anyone knows please contact me).

Here are the instructions for the beta testing:
1) Install the regular 29.41 drivers and give them a roll in benchmarks, write down the results and take a notice of the image quality.
2) Download the Omega drivers.
3) After downloading them you must uncompress them to a folder of your choice using Winzip or any other utilitie that can extract CAB files.
4) They must be installed through the Device Manager, they don't have a SETUP.
5) No need to clean previous settings, the drivers are prepared to remove old settings, even unknown ones.
6) After the install just restart and test again.
7) Inform me of any problems or any advancements.

That's all I need, here is the temporary link to the new 9x/ME set:
http://www.omegacorner.com/files/bet...x_1.0.2941.cab

Enjoy!

Default Post Quick first impressions.

I followed all your directions, (Well, first I modified the .inf to remove that icky nView-thingy. I kind of hate it. Nice rems!), and have the following:

29.41:

3dm2k1se:5634
DroneZ: min 40.2 max 88.5 avg 70.26
RTCW-Library test-30fps low, 50-70 avg
UT (OpenGL) min 29.27 max 86.83 avg 55.76

1.0.2941:

3dm2k1se:5447
DroneZ: min 53.1 max 397 avg 109.8
RTCW-Library test-31fps low, 'bout the same avg. (Maybe a skotch quicker)
UT (OpenGL) min 39.30 max 137.9 avg 66

Some quick comments:
DroneZ looks INCREDIBLE with your new drivers! Smooth, fast, and the details are sharp as hell without any shimmering. RTCW had some very slight shimmering for me, but nothing worth bitching about and the smoke is back for the bazooka & it looked good. UT popped my brain a bit, it really did run sweeter and looked better than it ever has!

Great job Omegadrive, if you can get the D3D worked out this set could be a real winner! (BTW-I'm gonna refrain from commenting about how 3dm2k1se looked, you already mentioned you were aware of the problems with it. )

Oh, everything was done on a CUSL2-C, PIII800@944, 512MB, win98se, GF3 240/530, & a humbo-county grin. I'm gonna go re-install rivatuna and go play with tweaking 'em now.

Default Post Finished Beta testing the new set.

Image quality is very good. The anisotropic levels are just right, no noticible shimmering. The frame rate hit is at least 4-5fps on my Rig(P933 with Ti4600). All Games look clear and very detailed. Nice work Omega. I still have not tried Clive barkers Undying, which is D3D. I will let you know. I like them, Minimal frame hit for improved image quality. Ok bye.

Default Post First Initial Test

D3D
I haven't done a lot yet, as I am going away for the Jubiliee, but was able to install the drivers last night.

GTA3
Game Stutters a little with every driver set, but with the same options, it stuttered a little more than usual. Mostly when I was going to fast.
I could tweak the game a little

CMR2
Ran Like a dream. Not problems, Graphics Fantastic

Grand Prix 3
Again, no problems, very good visually

Max Payne
Oh my god, I have never seen it like this before. Need I Say More

GTA3 is heavly dependant on DX8.1, as for the others they are DX8. I will do extensive testing when I return on the following:

3dmark 2000, 3dmark 20001, Final Reality, FRAPS ( Programe for getting FPS in D3D games )
I know alot of hard work, but worth it.

I only have Halflife and UT for OpenGL, and I would rather play UT in D3D, so I will leave this to others if that is OK.

See you in less than a Week.

Overall - First impressions last, and these deffinatly require more investigation.

Default Post Testing on ME

Hi,

Testing your beta 2941's on a Tbird 1.4ghz fsb266 with ASUS V8200 GeForce 3 WinME

Seem to be running fine in all areas.

One Problem: When I boot now I receive an error box "RUNDLL"

error in NVQTWK.dll
missing entry: NvXTInit

Can you help me get rid of this error?

Thanks

Default Post How to clear the error at bootup....

Go into "msconfig" and in the startup section you have to clear the nvidia entries NVQTWK something like that. That will fix it. What is happening is that the old driver left those entries there for startup, like digital vibrance etc. So just clear those and BAM!!!!!!!! Roll with the new drivers.

Default Post Thats what I'm here for............

No problem fellas, I love to help. I'm always looking for ways to help. I wish that D3D would get a speed boost . The 29.42 are great, all games work perfect. Sometimes you get caught in the Benchmark cycle. But you can't play benchmarks only games so enjoy the new drivers WORD!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
