updating driver problem
i got a nvidia FX geforce 5700 ultra, it is version 5.2.1.4 of the defualt nvidia drivers, when ever i try to update it to something newer (no matter what driver i try to update with) it alwese creates some weird problem, after updating and restarting my computer monitor screen would randomly freeze up for 2-4 seconds then go black for 2 seconds then go back to normal, it happens constantly as i try to use my computer for things other then gaming, it works fine for gaming but it prevents me from doing anything else on my computer!
there is no error message and in the place were you roll back your driver it says: this driver thingy is working right
it just random freezes and then blacks out every little while then goes back to normal,
what can i do to fix this?
i wanna be able to use the omega driver agian becuase it made my computer run so much faster.
EDIT: also, what video driver should i use to get the fastest preformance? it won't really matter unless you know how i can fix my "updating prevention" problem tho

Ok you need to uninstall your graphics driver fist, go into control panel add/remove programs. Uninstall the nvidia driver/software.
Then use a program called driver cleaner, which can be found on this web site. install it and follow the directions to a T.
Reboot.
Then install the latest drivers I would suggest 77.72, nvidias lasted off there page.

Officials are officials if you want fast then look to a modified driver, 99% of the populations probably are/is fine using the officials.
Just try the officials and if you are unhappy with them then try modded drivers...in most cases the mod drivers are not magic so i doubt you will see much better performance anyway 5-maybe 10%
I never bother using mod drivers because my performance is fine with the officials
