Still Can't Get Rid of Windows XP nVidia Drivers

I am using a GeForce2 MX 32MB video card that has been giving me an annoying problem ever since I bought my pc a few years ago. I was certain I could solve my problem but up till now, I have not been able to.

I use dual monitors and run Windows XP Pro. The card works perfectly if I do a fresh boot (turn off, then turn on) but if I do a reboot (restart), the 2nd monitor has very bad colors with only the blue color showing.

I am fairly certain I have the problem narrowed down to the wrong video driver being loaded when I do the restart. The Device Manager shows an nVidia Quadro2 MXR/EX driver from Microsoft Corp loaded. When I do a fresh boot, it shows an nVidia GeForce2 MX/MX 400 driver of whatever version I have loaded. Currently it's version 7.1.8.9. I am certain the Quadro2 driver came from the initial load of Windows XP.

A few days ago I came upon this website and downloaded the Driver Cleaner Pro 1.1. I followed the instructions and ran it with the ethernet cable pulled out and also in safe mode. Before running the Driver Cleaner, I first ran Cabinet Cleaner as suggested. After running both cleaners, I am still left with reminents in my registry which I am thinking is causing my continued problem. The Quadro2 pieces are in the following places:

1. HKey_Local_Machine\System\ControlSet001\Control\Cl ass\{4D36E968..........} as sub-key 0000. An old entry for a GeForce2 MX/MX 400 Ver 2.9.5.8 from either the original Windows XP load or a possible driver update I many have tried in the past is in sub-key 0001. My good driver is here as sub-key 0002.

2. HKey_Local_Machine\System\ControlSet001\Control\Vi deo\{73E8DD38..........} as sub-key 0000. An old entry for a GeForce2 MX/MX 400 Ver 2.9.5.8 from either the original Windows XP load or a possible driver update I many have tried in the past is in sub-key {BB0D4ACB.......}. My good driver is in sub-key {A91D2400........}

3. HKey_Local_Machine\System\ControlSet001\Enum\PCI\V en 10DE&DEV_0113..........} as sub-key 482062e........... My good driver is in sub-key Ven 10DE&DEV_0110..........} as sub-key 482062e...........

4. HKey_Local_Machine\System\ControlSet003\Control\Cl ass\{4D36E968..........} as sub-key 0000. An old entry for a GeForce2 MX/MX 400 Ver 2.9.5.8 from either the original Windows XP load or a possible driver update I many have tried in the past is in sub-key 0001. My good driver is here as sub-key 0002.

5. HKey_Local_Machine\System\ControlSet003\Control\Vi deo\{73E8DD38..........} as sub-key 0000. An old entry for a GeForce2 MX/MX 400 Ver 2.9.5.8 from either the original Windows XP load or a possible driver update I many have tried in the past is in sub-key {BB0D4ACB.......}. My good driver is in sub-key {A91D2400........}.

6. HKey_Local_Machine\System\ControlSet003\Enum\PCI\V en 10DE&DEV_0113..........} as sub-key 482062e........... My good driver is in sub-key Ven 10DE&DEV_0110..........} as sub-key 482062e...........

7. HKey_Local_Machine\System\CurrentControlSet\Contro l\Class\{4D36E968..........} as sub-key 0000. An old entry for a GeForce2 MX/MX 400 Ver 2.9.5.8 from either the original Windows XP load or a possible driver update I many have tried in the past is in sub-key 0001. My good driver is here as sub-key 0002.

8. HKey_Local_Machine\System\CurrentControlSet\Contro l\Video\{73E8DD38..........} as sub-key 0000. An old entry for a GeForce2 MX/MX 400 Ver 2.9.5.8 from either the original Windows XP load or a possible driver update I many have tried in the past is in sub-key {BB0D4ACB.......}. My good driver is in sub-key {A91D2400........}.

9. HKey_Local_Machine\System\CurrentControlSet\Enum\P CI\Ven 10DE&DEV_0113..........} as sub-key 482062e........... My good driver is in sub-key Ven 10DE&DEV_0110..........} as sub-key 482062e...........

10. HKey_Local_Machine/Software/Microsoft/Windows/CurrentVersion/Reinstall as sub-key 0013.

In my final attempt to solve my problem, I deleted as many of these remaining keys as the system allowed and the only one that I could not was #9. When doing a reboot (restart), the system completed it's reboot process without a problem but, in checking the Device Manager, I found that my Quadro2 driver was back again as the video driver. In checking the Registry, I found that the entries shown in #3 and #6 came back.

Is there a reason these reminents were left behind after doing both cleaners? I am hoping someone can provide some direction on where I might head to fix my problem.

Any help is certainly appreciated.
