WinXP Pro and OpenGL

Hi,

I am new to the froums here so if this "subject" has already been dealt with in detail please forgive me and point me in the right direction.

When I try and play a game that Uses OpenGL in XP Pro, the game is so Dark that I can't make out most of my Surrondings. I have tried adjusting the settings in the Drivers (nVidia Standard, last attempted set was 40.72), as well as in the games. The two biggest games are Half-Life and UR2K3. Yes this is with and without SP1 being installed.

I can run Win9x/ME and don't have the prob.

System Specs:
===========
AMD XP 1700+
DDR 2100 512
WinME
G4 440 MX (Xtasy)
WD ATA 100 30g

If you could help me I would greatly appreciate it. I just dl'ed Omega's Drives and I am going to install XP on a seperate Part and try it once again.

Thanks, RIP!

**UPDATE**

Well I was hoping that someone (some peps) had read and repled to this thread by now, however seeing it's Sunday I know the board doesn't get as much Traffic as usual so I will just update everyone on what I have done.

I installed XP Pro on a sep part....
I dl'ed the Omega Drivers (latest) and installed them, along with the DX 8.2 (upgrade, was using 8.1), and I installed Half-Life and the latest Patch, and not matter what settings I use in HL the screen is "very dark". Ok, here is a bit of info that may help someone help me, I can take a screen shot and open it, and it looks normal. I don't know what that means exactly but I know it's something.

Well I will keep a eye out for all the input and suggestions.

Thanks, RIP

PS .. I can do a SS and post it if someone will tell me how

Matth will become famous soon enough
System Specs

You may be able to change the colour profile for your monitor

The ones in a sequence ending 15, 18, 21 are for different gamma values.

The NVIEW settings also offer gamma adjustment - but this does not explain WHY it's dark, but it HAS been mentioned before for some of the 40.x driver sets

Did it correctly identify the monitor - sometimes that doesn't seem to happen.

PS. Thanks for answering on NVROTATE - that's narrowed it down a bit, but not ruled out anything for certain.

Actually it's doing the same thing regardless of the Driver Ver.
no I had to dl the INF file for my monitor and tried those and no go there either, I did use the (only) profile that I seen in the set ava for my Monitor. Which is a KDS XF70.
