I don't know why guru3d adds passwords, but it reads on their page. I may have a clue but better not to spit it out

"When requested, the unpack password is: guru3d.com"

And reason why direct click ain't working is that dna-drivers.nl went crazy and is getting a brand new host

Very Very true indeed since nvidia dosen't take care of us and update there drivers more.. They need to geta driver program like ati. I love nvidia cards since i switched over but i don't like how they sit on drivers for so long. Thanks

very true!im sure that nvidia could do better than that.im sure they could squeeze much more from our video cards specially 6 series owners.there's just so many things that can still be improved

Hey this is my first post but I had to say, I tried these drivers and although my 3dmark05 scores went up 200pts (!) my idle temp for my gpu remained high (52c) when i went back to 66.93's my idle temp was back to 42c. Anyone else experiencing the heat. (my load temps were not that different.)

Yes I had se same experience on my MSI NX 6800 TD, i had to clock my Ram back from 440 Mhz to 400 , and the Gpu Clock from 880 to 820Mhz to lower the temp.
The MSI have a verry good stock cooling, of pure copper and a good Fan.
Doom 3 gave a black screen on my normal OC setting with this driver, when i clocked back as above , Doom3 runs well.
I have installed the quality options of the driver, i think they modefied both ram and Gpu clock speeds to achive better speed.
With my new oc settings it give a frame boost of 121pts in 3DMark05.
So i keep this driver running on my system.
O btw with my old oc settings HL 2 gave me strange glitches, now when i clocked back it runs ok.
My temp is now 47 deg. Celcius, and the other games r running better with this driver.
For security i enabeled the temp treshold in the driver setting on 65 deg. C ,so it can't blow up my card.
Max setting 65 deg. C, the risk with higher temps is too big, i don't know if there is a hardware prevention switch off , on the chip by overheating.
I never tried overheating .

B.T.W. wich card do U use , and overclocked it?

That's was my conclusion. I'm sure they will fix it. And the card is a BFG 6800 128mb (the vanilla 12 pipe model). I have not tries the 71.80's yet. No the card is not presently oc'd.

Many have reported that only idle temperature has increased, and card crashes/locks up the system if it gets too hot. So I quess it's quite easy to just boot up to safemode and change driver after locking up or if the temperature increases too much. Hard to imagine damaging your card this way, but I can't quarantee anyway.

ps. You can disable overclocksettings by pressing ctrl at the right time when windows loads.

I only mess with the new drivers to bench anyway so i'll have to wait for a fix. I only noticed a slight performance increase with 67.66's so I'm with the .93's still.
