Serious Computer Problem - Help Please

Hi guys, i got a new Gcard from Gainward - FX 5600 256MB.
I first removed all the drivers and dl'd the 71,20 (Currently Using)
I took out my old card (MX440) and put it in.

Upon turning my computer on, i heard 1 Long Beep and 2 Short beeps ,
Meaning my Gcard was not detected or faulty, and it just wouldnt work no matter how many times i reset it.

Luckily i had my old comp, and i put the card into it, it ran flawlessly, which was quite strange.

I then took it out and put it into my good computer and it worked!, it got into windows, i installed the drivers and reset.
Then agian i heard those damn dreadful beeps, i kept reseting, and on third reset it worked and it got into windows, but it froze shortly after, as if no power to mouse but there as

I took my old card put it in, got onto net and talked to a friend who told me i should update my VIA p4pb 400-l mobo, so i did, and it worked out great, i could stay on for a while, and play games, but It started to randomly freeze again - and still does.

After reseting the beeps come ,and i gota reset/ turn comp of 2-4 times to get into it, and the freezes i have no idea how to fix

So any ideas would be GREATLY appriated, i was thinking it might be with the 71,21 Beta drivers, but maybe not.

A bit of info what happens when it randomly freezes, the screen goes black and it says Frequency Out of Range - H: 340KHz V:340Hz (thats crazy!! no monitor can support that , so why does it use it?), and then when i reset my comp wont detect my gcard untill i reset itliike 5-10 times

Please help

System Specs

clear your CMOS (bios) via jumper or by removeing the motherboard battery
make sure the system is unplugged

wait 10 seconds and replace jumper to proper poition or , put battery back in board

boot, load power on defaults
see if that works
...............
check your temps and voltages
...............
see if there is an updated bios for your board
...............
make sure you have at lest a 250W-300W PSU
...............

try uping AGP voltage to 1.6V
................

try useing AGP 4x
..................

(also try useing driver cleaner) if you get it booting

ya you can but you need to get it to boot properly / regularly
1st....

one thing at a time if it isn't booting right then it's not going to work right

fix boot , then worry about windows

.................

How about a full list of system spec's / hardware

Well depends.... most people can and do run on the defaults

is theis a custom / homebuilt system?
or a brand name like dell / compaq / hp / sony etc?

might go in and hand write down what everythings set on in the bios just in case ....

ok the default AGP voltage is 1.5V
you want to try 1.6V just to see if it helps

if it doesn't you can safely leve it or set it back

(BTW: don't get agp & cpu voltage confused )

well good luck! might re install your video card drivers

.................................................. ................
if you get issues at this point
.................................................. ................

be sure to uninstall your graphics driver
try driver cleaner http://www.driverheaven.net/cleaner/
clean your nvidia display drivers only....

reboot
then re install your graphics driver...
(if neccecary use the NV fix in driver cleaner, if you get an install error)

Can you tell us what kind of motherboard you have? If you have an ECS motherboard, they're known to have problems with the AGP port.

Reset as in, i gota reset it, or comp freezes ect.

Its a VIA P4PB 400-L
Its working better now, freezes rarely, and the beeps only happen 1/2 resets.

just wanted to be clear, you never know.
so you have reset your bios to default? have you checked all connections to make sure they are snug? you would be amazed at what one slightly loose cable/card can do to some systems .
if neither of these things work i would take a long look at the psu. if you are getting beeps on post this has nothing to do with software. this is pure hardware. & as long as bios is default & everything is seated right. i would say it is either a psu problem. or an agp slot problem, given that is what started the whole thing.
then again you say the problems are happening less frequently. maybe it is correcting itself. do not ask me what that means but it is something i have seen before .
sorry i am not being much help here but it sounds like you got one of those things that is going to be silly in hindsight(excluding the agp slot problem).

The PSU + AGP slot i'll look into more if it still happens with my 6600GT card when i get it this week. PSU could be the problem, i hope its just the gcard.
