Setting Overlay Gamma in 56.64 Drivers

Ok, I used to run the Omega 45.23 drivers for my 5200FX, as I got slightly better frame rates with that driver set than any which came after. Plus, I was able to set Overlay/VMR gamma to compensate for my dark monitor. However, I discovered that City Of Heroes won't run with older drivers (Runtime Error) so I was forced to upgrade... and hnnnngghhh, the Gamma setting for Overlay is disabled in these drivers. Clicking on the Overlay Controls > Adjust Colors... option just takes you to the disabled sliders again. I can compensate in Win Media Player with Brightness, but not in every game, or WinDvD 3.0 enough, leaving some of my B&W DvD's almost unwatchable. Is there any way to force all Overlay output up to about 2.00 Gamma as in the older drivers?

Thanks!

Ha finally a guinea pig.

I specialise in modding nVidia drivers to enable ALL tweaks.
I have as of my version 30.xx INFs enabled this setting, you are after (OverlayMode3)

If you're keen have a look here http://www.laptopvideo2go.com under 'modified INFs' are a whole heap of drivers and modded INFs to go with them.
Get a driver and/or an INF with version 30 or higher (desktop support), replace original INF with modded one and install (uninstall first is recomended).

Overlay gamma is disabled by default with nVidia drivers, I found the setting to enable it, and is enabled by default in all my INFs (v30+)

I can't test this setting, so would be very interested if it actually works as it's supposed to.

Enjoy

Pieter.

Sorry to disappoint you, but I can't guinea pig your drivers... You have the 56.64 modified .inf's... but they are for Win XP, and I'm running Win ME (*spit* I know...). The file NV4_disp.inf does not exist under the ME version: it's called NVAGP.inf, and although I can see the lines of code under OverlayMode3, there is no internal consistency between the two, so I don't feel confident enough to simply cut and paste the commands across. If you could tell me where to place the code into NVAGP.inf, I can test that... but your drivers overall are for the wrong OS, sorry

Shameless Bumpage

Hello again all,

I've since tried both RivaTuner and Powerstrip, and neither allows Gamma setting for Overlays: Powerstrip just has one setting for all, but it doesn't work on Overlays, and RTuner's seperate settings for Overlay doesn't have a Gamma slider... This is really frustrating me, does anyone have any other answer for me please?
