Short Freezes - Silent Running?

Hi,

I have experienced this problem for some time now and found no answer.

In a lot of games (DX2, City of Heroes, Farcry, Max Pain 2 etc) I have experienced the following
problem: the game locks up for some secondes - up to 10 or 20 seconds - while sounds starts looping or sometimes just goes on.

The screen freezes. After this time the game goes on as normal or as in City of Heroes yesterday
i get a blue screen of death - n4_displ.dll.

I tried several drivers of the 4X.XX and the 5X.XX versions and am now stuck with the latest driver (56.71?).
In the protocols I often find "Silent running: rising temperature caused new fan speed L0->L1".

I am only guessing that there is a connection between those.

My System: WinXP Pro, SP1, all patches applied, DX9 up to date, Forceware Driver 56.71

AMD XP 2,7 Ghz, 1 Gig Ram Infineon, Asus A7N8X deluxe, Powersupply: Silentmax 420, Prolink Pixelview Geforce FX 5900 , Toshiba DVD+-RW (4x), LG CD+RW (40x), one 80 GB HD, one 40 GB HD.

Ony help?

Greetings...

I know what you mean. I have the same problem with Unreal Tournament and a few other games. I was just playing Call Of Duty, and the screen froze for about 20 seconds, the it jumped a few frames and froze again with some obvious graphic errors. Then the program shut down with the usual request to send the info to Microsoft.

I opened the event viewer and looked in application errors. I got the following info from it:

Faulting application codsp.exe, version 0.0.0.0, faulting module nvoglnt.dll,
version 6.14.10.5303, fault address 0x000af81b.

I have a NVidia Geforce 3 TI 500 with the 1.5303 Omega drivers installed. I'm sorry to say that I didn't have this problem before I installed these drivers. Hopefully, the next release will take care of this problem.
