Ti4600 - 56.72 drivers - Direct3d tab missing

These are the first drivers I have installed since XP was installed on my puter and the Direct 3D tab is missing. I actually never had it with any previous drivers unless I used CoolBits, but My friend has a MX440 and the direct 3d tab shows up without Coolbits. This makes no sense to me. Can any of you driver gurus explain why this is ?

Now when I use Coolbits with these drivers, after rebooting my screen flashes real bad and even worse when I open display properties (even though I'm not overclocking). Only thing I can figure is it has something to do with the auto detect overclock feature with the FX cards.

I want to be able to get to the Direct3d tab to change the render frames ahead setting to 0 when I play BF1942. For me changing it to 0 gets rid of mouse lagg in that game.

I'm playing Far Cry right now so I need the newer drivers for it to run it's best on my system, that's why I haven't gone back to the 45.23's.

Is there a way I can change the registry so just the D3D tab shows ? Maybe if I can do that the screen won't flash.

Google let me down on finding an answer.

If I recall, I had the flash when I had Coolbits in, even without doing any settings it would flash. btw: there is not D3D tab in this driver revision all settings are on the same page, Performance & Quality Settings check the box Show advanced settings and you will get the VSYNC option and some others...I also suggest besides just disabling VSYNC also turn off Conformant Texture Clamp.

BTW to disable Coolbits run regedit and go to

[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\NVIDIA Corporation\Global\NVTweak]
and delete Coolbits or set it to 0.

Well I got part of it worked out. On the clock frequencies tab I changed it to "manual overclock" and put a check in the box for "Apply settings at startup" even though I'm not overclocking. Now it doesn't flash when choosing "Analog Display" to open the video properties(that was the main thing that bugged the hell out of me). It just does it when I reboot now. I'm used to the flash when I reboot from when I do overclock. Now I have my D3D tab back without the flash so I'm happy.

I already knew about the settings you mentioned, but thanks for mentioning it.
