Feature request: EDID override for DVI-D in Omega nVidia drivers

I am the proud owner of a Sony VPL-HS10 16:9 1366x768 LCD projector with DVI-D input.

My home theater PC is based around an Athlon 2100+, KT266A, and GF4-Ti4200 running WinXP Pro. I also have a 21" Nokia analog monitor hooked up as well as the projector.

The main problem with this system is a driver incompatibility which prevents me from using the full resolution of the projector. The projector incorrectly reports via EDID that its maximum resolution is 1024x768 instead of 1366x768, and nothing I do is able to override that and get the drivers to accept a DVI-D custom resolution above 1024x768. I'm a long-time user of powerstrip and have set many custom resolutions before. ATI users report no problems with this setup, but all nVidia users do.

What we need is a driver switch to disable/override the EDID check in the WinXP DetFX drivers.

Such a switch already exists in the Win9x and Linux versions of the DetFX drivers. In fact, I just installed W98SE on a new partition to test this out, and with Powerstrip and a custom monitor .inf, I got the full native resolution on the projector as I hoped I would. With Omegadrive's knowledge of the DetFX drivers and contacts with the nVidia driver team, I hope for a solution.

I'm nearly at the point of buying an ATI card just over this, but that wouldn't help the other VPL-HS10/nVidia owners out there who need a solution just as I do.

More details about this problem can be found from an nVidia bug thread that
was started in Feb:

and in an AVS Forum thread here:

and in the Entech Powerstrip forums here:

Many thanks in advance, and I admire the Omega project greatly.
