I have searched thru the forums, and viewed some compare pics on the Main site page showing IQ vs Omega, default Nvidia, and 8x aniso nvidia drivers... I must say I was very impressed with the omega drivers. I plan to install them for a test drive, but until then I was curious about one thing....
Is there a loss in Performance with the Omega drivers?? Often times I find myself just barely clearing the low fps barrier (where you end up with choppy gfx), so I am very curious what effect switching from an Nvidia Driver to Omega would have on FPS in game???
I currently use Nvidia Det 43.51 (soon to be 44.03). Im using a GF4 Ti4400 with settings at: Balanced/4XS AA/4X ANISO/Texture Sharpening ON and NO O/C or 3rd Party prg's running with it.
I usually run my games in Res 1024x768x32 @ 100Hz
Specs if it helps:
WinXP Home
Athlon XP 2200+ @ 1.86Ghz
768MB PC2700
PNY GF4 Ti4400
SB Audigy 2
Yes you would be getting a slight drop in performance with omega drivers. Whatever you gain you always lose somewhere else Anyway the performance drop would not be that noticable, The only way to find out is just install them, what could possibly go wrong !
Oh man.. Those little smilies at the end there worry me!!! j/K!
I still havent tried them out since posting this thread, but I still plan to! I wanna see how they handle.. Shortly after posting tho I was accepted into a BETA TEST phase for a game, because of this I plan to stick with nvidia at least until I wrap things up with this current project.. That may change as time goes by, but for now thats where I stand..
Is there going to be omegas to match the new 44.03 drivers?? They are WHQL correct?

that's the plan. omega's probably working on 'em right now..

they are whql, but only for the fx series. please don't focus on whql certification though. it doesn't mean that the drivers are better, just that nvidia paid for the testing..
