Faxon is on a distinguished road

driver related refresh rate isuses with Sony CDP-G500

summary of my issue is pretty basic. i have a Sony G500 monitor and a 7300GS with the latest Nvidia forceware drivers. the monitor supports maximum resolution of 2048x1536 @ 72Hz, i normally run it at 2048x1536 @ 70Hz since most games don't support 72, and i like keeping my resolutions/refresh rates matched between applications for preformance reasons. just got the 7300 today, updated the driver, was only detecting my 21 inch CRT as "default monitor". i went and manually updated the monitor driver + .INF hoping to fix the issue entirely. my computer is registering the monitor as the proper model now but it is still forcing only 60Hz at this resolution. I'm about to try reinstalling my video drivers and see if this fixes the problem even though i doubt it will, anyone have some input as to how to fix this? i managed to stump a family member who has been a technical consultant for the past 7 years on the issue so at this point im getting really pissed off, since replacing the monitor is in the realm of idiocy, and it worked just fine with my old 6600 (other than the fact the card died).

on another topic, does anyone know if omega drivers are ever going to be updated to support the geforce 7 and 8 series of cards? they havent updated the geforce drivers since april 05 and i rather liked using their drivers over the stuff that nvidia sticks us with, but since geforce 7 support was medocre at best then, i cant get the omega drivers to work with the card at all.

if you guys cant help me, im going to be harassing my neighbor tomorrow, who happens to work for nvidia, and see if she can come up with a solution for me. until then, im stuck with a huge flickering beast that is making my eyes sorer by the minute
