Still Cant Use Nvidia Drivers (only omega) and now Thumbnails of avi make hang
Hey,
This is odd but since I bought my MSI ti4600 128mb ddr video card I wasent able to get it working in Windows XP with nvidia official driver. What happens is that it does work, but not for games. The problem is that it gives that known IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL error. In SP1, it just freezes my PC. (the driver work just fine in Windows me/98, even for games). Some months ago I found out that If I install Omega Drivers and change AGP speed to 2x and back to 4x, everything start working just fine, even if I reinstall Nvidia Drivers. In the lastest version of Omega everything works if I turn the memory fast write option off.
The problem is that now, using lastest omega drivers or lastest nvidia driver my computer freezes while generating .avi thumbnails. This is very odd.
Q: anyone know a way I could do to use nvidia original drivers without problems ? anyone heard of .avi thumbnail generating hang ?
Thanks

Just to add information, when I just install the driver in 8bit 640x480 the thumbnails wont make XP freeze, but when I go to 1024x768 32 bits or 16 bits, it start freezing while generating video thumbnails only Images is ok.

No big deal... as they found out in some review - other than the name suggests, Fast Write slows things down

Are you installing new drivers over older drivers? You should never do that! When changing drivers, you should uninstall them, reboot in VGA mode and use Driver Cleaner or Detonator Destroyer to remove all remains, and then reboot again and install the new drivers. Are you doing this?

Turning Fast Write OFF on my Bios seens to have fixed the thumbnail problem. But, to play games I need to do this (when I install xp), at least once:
Turn agp speed to 2x in Omega driver preferences (I wish I could do that in nvidia originals)
reboot
Turn agp speed back to 4x
reboot
From that on, all games work just fine. Wondering why...

Fine, that's already one problem less

Very strange... never heard of something the likes. Have you set your AGP set to 4x in the Bios? Also, if you haven't done so, set your AGP aperture size to 128MB and see if that helps any.
