I'll start- the custom resolution section using the new control panel is totally messed up and doesn't work right, just like the betas. Mostly only CRT users will notice this - and I guess not many of them use custom resolutions.. but I am surprised by how messed up it is.

in currently runnin the betas, and get not only the SLI disabled pop up on boot, but also a Virtual Memory to low balloon always comin up the 1st time i enter the new cp after a boot, tried variuos VM setups, all i used before, to avail. i dont know much about the custom resolution thing as i havent used it, but are the pop ups still around? im pleased with the performance of the driver itself, is there many differences from the betas of the same number, to these officials?

Well I was running the other beta .28 (edit) because of the dumb pop-up at the start.
Well get this sh!t!! This is the final release 91.31..
I still get this idiotic thing even though I have the taskbar icon turned off in the CP.. That is surprising and also ridiculous.
WTF Nvidia? These are BETA as far as I am concerned with a known bug like this making it through. I really can't believe it.
Then to make this problem even worse, you click on the dumb thing to turn it off and it opens a webpage? Again, WTF NVidia.. completely stupid.

I was reading the forums over at NVnews... it looks as though there is not a damn thing changed in these from the .31 beta's....
So back to 91.28 for me unless there is a fix for that immensely annoying pop-up bug (besides turning off pop-ups altogether which I am not going to do).
Oh well.

yeah I was hoping these bugs I heard about before (I never installed the beta .31's) would be fixed. So I am going back.. Kinda sux after I finally got these all set up and everything. Hopefully they will release another beta soon with these small (but deal-breaking) bugs.

Ok, I think I found a solution- if this works you can disable the task bar icon app... and it fixes that problem. As it is the task bar app pops up no matter how you set it.
Quote:
To fix this bug add the new dword at the following reg key:
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\NVIDIA Corporation\Global\NVTweak]
"NvCplEnableMultiGPUConfigurationPage"=dword:0
This will kill the fkn pop up message for non-SLI users and for systems that don't even support SLI (like mine). It will also allow you to kill the tray app for good like all drivers prior to 91.31.
|
This is what it looks like when I added it... I am going to test it now.

Also it says it is 21 MB but it is actually 40.3 MB.. :-/
I can't understand how you didn't get the popup and I did though.. that's strange.
-I have not rebooted since I made that post above with the reg hack.. I guess I will reboot to see if it worked.
EDIT
YUP the reg-hack works.

Some say it is just bad and some say that these is crap with several games
Man Nvidia is really slow in creating some new official and stable drivers

I heard people also say they are really good with Oblivion... I haven't had much experience with them in a game to decide for myself.

It eliminates that popup, OK. Interesting on nvidia's site it indicates "this will be fixed in a later release" for non-SLI capable PCs
http://nvidia.custhelp.com/cgi-bin/n...GVkIG1lc3NhZ2U*
However, if I go into the Control Panel and Try to turn off the tray icon it just reappears as soon as I exit the CP.

Well I just tried to make a profile in the default control panel. it does not work at all. So either that was broken before, or the reg-hack breaks the profiles in the default CP.
Guess I will try the new CP to see if it works.

Yeah you have to add the entry.. Anyway it works for disabling the pop-up- but it totally breaks the profiles.
Nvidia sucks for releasing this garbage.. I am quite disappointed.. In order to get rid of there advertising pop-up you have to hunt for fixes. That's pathetic.
I'll delete that reg entry and try the reg fix from Nvidia- seems like that will probably work better... Why this is not released with the drivers, I don't know.
