omega drivers vs. movie codecs???
Just installed Omegas 2687 and now I can't watch any video files. It says unknown video fomat etc. with all players ( BSPlayer, WMP,...).I reinstalled codecs (different versions / packs) but nothing helped. Whats wrong here???Is there an option I should enable or disable in Control Panel that is set different than in omegas 2683(with these I had no problems)? Help please!

I have been struggling with the same thing over the last 4 days since I upgraded to an ATI X850XT. This is not just with Omega, but the ATI drivers as well. I messed up my system so badly that I am considering reinstalling. However, I will hold off until I have a solution to this issue. The only thing I have been able to determine is that it may have something to do with the WDM drivers as my video playback breaks when those are installed.

download this
http://www.cccp-project.net/
it will provide you with filters that will play just about any video you want. f* all the codec bs, mabe download divx or and xvid.
use the included player "media player classic" as its the best at playing everything.

vlc is nice, and i only use it if mpc isnt working, which btw, with the filter pack (cccc) it works every time.

I'm getting this problem also with the 5.13 drivers. Any word on a fix other than just using another player?

Well I searched all over the place and I couldn't find a solution either, other than using an alternative player. Luckily, I had a spare hard drive, so I installed a fresh copy of XP and the ATI 5.13 drivers. I also took the opportunity to upgrade the chipset drivers after discovering that I was running with some about a year old. So far, I haven't lost my codecs in Media Player and can play videos. Whether it was the chipset drivers, or other incompatible drivers in my old XP install (given that it was 1.5 years old) it is difficult to say. So I am now watching everything I do and document it to help pin-point a root cause.
Regards.

The fonts in VLC are horrible. I have had a similar problem where all videos refuse to play. Dunno if was caused by installing the new Omegas or what. Either way, I uninstalled ALL media players and codec packs, then re-installed them. They work now. Hope this helps you...

In case you are interested, it looks like the root cause of the issue has been identified. If you use Driver Cleaner 1.3, please review this link.
Hope this helps!
