CCC and Overdrive
I'm liking CCC the more I mess with it. I have noticed that when I use the automatic clock configurator, it sets my graphics processor clock to a different setting each time I run it. It always sets my graphics memory to the same clock speed. Why does it set the graphics processor to a different clock speed every time?
Thanks,
FM

IT depends on how hot it is at the time and stuff....OD is funny like that. Memory however I don't think anything less than Overdrive 4 will OC

Not sure what version of OD I have but, it certainly overclocks the memory on my card. At least is says it did. And it looks like it did. It sets the memory clock to 621 from the default 540. I'm using the latest CCC that was bundled with the 5.13 Catalysts.
Thanks,

Ah, you have OD 4, X850XT's get that.
In that case, it will do GPU clocking sort of like ATI Tool, but anything could be the cause of varying clockspeeds

Thanks for your help.
So, now my only issue with the CCC is that my "AGP Write" in the SmartGart cannot be turned on no matter what I do. I can't find any settings related to this in my system bios.
This only happened after installing my X850XT. With my 9700 Pro, the AGP Write was on.

You mean "Fast Writes"? If you're using AGPx8, you can't combine the two, so not having it is normal. If you're running at AGPx4, then you should check that Fast Writes are enabled in your BIOS...

No, I mean "AGP Write" in the CCC. Everything else, including Fast Write is "on". AGP Write is "off" and I cannot get it "on" no matter what I do. I have read that all options in SmartGart should be on, or at least should be able to be turned on. I am using AGPX4. There is no option in my BIOS for fast writes.
Thanks,
FM

The graphics card supports all of the settings, but your motherboard may not. Sometimes updating to the latest MB BIOS will help or make additional settings available. I remember that some of the early KT266 motherboards had real problems with AGPx4 features, so I guess some of the Intel P4/RAMBUS MB's also do...

P4 Rambus ones were supposed to be pretty good, infact I've never heard of any AGP problems on them

This has to be card related. This only changed since I installed my X850XT. My 9700 Pro showed all SmartGart settings as "on" in the CCC.
Thanks,

Most of the time AGP Write does not to be enabled, and on some chipsets (namely i850) it may not be supported. So I would not worry about getting it on.

You could always get some 3DMark '03 lovin' going and see how you compare against similar systems

Okay, thanks. I just thought it was strange because it was on with my 9700 Pro.

You can't really be sure it was on, it might have been "shown" as on, but not really enabled.
If you are interested to check, try using SmartGART uninstaller, then clean the drivers and reinstall them completely. This may reinitialize the drivers and might enable the AGP Writes.

SmartGART Uninstaller hosed my friend's XP install once...not that its a bad idea, its just something to keep in mind on a sort of "If it ain't broke don't fix it" note.
I never really pay attention to those things being on or off so long as I'm performing where I should be People put too much importance on little text boxes hehe

If these little things aren't important, why does ATI include them? Why not just leave them out? SmartGart seems to create more trouble than it is worth anyway.
