When is ati going to fix the refresh rate problem with OpenGL like they promised
Ati stated in the release of the Catalyst 2.4 that have fixed the Direct3d refresh rate, but not the OpenGL problem with going to 640X480 and 60 HZ. It stated on the site that they would put it in the upcomming driver release. This has not happened
Where is it at?
I am going to stay with Catalsyt 2.3's until OpenGL has better Refresh rates

I do not want to use those programs
I am a stability freak when it comes to computers/servers. I want to have it implemented into the drivers with an easy check mark. Not some outside program that forces the issue and the risk that it just might mess up the stablity of my server.

It is a Windows issue. If you dont want to use a 3rd party app...well you will have to wait. But in Xp you need to turn off your DDC info, then add this line too your shortcut of any Q3 engine game: +set r_displayRefresh"100". The "100" has to be your desktop refreshrate, and can be what ever your desktop is..85 or 90.......

That may help one game but that is not my point
When ATi released Catalyst 2.4, one of the last lines of fixes was that the driver had fixed issue pertaining to Direct3d games and that an upcoming Driver will resolve the OpenGL Refresh rate issue with Windows 2000/Windows XP.
I know that the issue arises from the stand point that Windows XP does not have the optimal refresh rate in the system anywhere.
My point is not to use any regediting, 3rd party software, or whatever to fix the problem.
Either Micro$haft (will probably not make a service pack for) or ATi can fit it into its driver series in the control panel.
I just want this to be addressed for all Games that are in OpenGL format.

1. The reason for the "bug" (which is not a bug) is that too many people bitched about the way it WAS to Microsoft. It used to be that in any given resolution, the OGL refresh rate defaulted to the "maximum" or "optimum" that the windows monitor driver indicated. Problem was, 90+% of monitor drivers were wrong, DDC information is often ... *ahem* optimistic, and people would fire up games and just not see ANYTHING, or have the monitor wig out. MS's solution? Change it to the LOWEST refresh rate. EVERY monitor plays nice at its lowest rate for a given resolution.
2. ATI will eventually fix it. When? Dunno. I, too, am irked that it was supposed to be in these drivers, but then again these are interim test drivers, yeah?
3. Use powerstrip. "Oh, boo hoo I don't want to touch my registry I'm afraid oh, woe is me!" Guess what? EVERY APPLICATION YOU RUN TOUCHES THE REGISTRY. Don't be such a baby.

Its not ATis issue. It is a Windows issue. And ATi said they will adress it. They did not say when..... but would be in a driver set sometime.
You dont use the Comand Line in you short cuts?
Get with it.. there are so many cool features for id. games.
How about 1600/1200 32bit Quake. Or your refresh rate the same as your desktop.

Heh. What frosts me is that there are still OpenGL games released WITHOUT a command-line or config-file option to change refresh rate. Bleh. Took them like 4 patches for Civ3 to bother to include a refresh option in the config file. Double bleh.
