No antialiasing problem!
I have the Gigabyte radeon 9700 pro with a Gigabyte 8SG667 (SiS648) motherboard. with DX9 and catalyst 3 Installed.
everything works except :
A) I get no antialiasing in games like Mafia, Nolf2 , Hitman2
I tried x2 x4 x6 and app preference but nothing works
in mafia the setup gives me only FSAA: off.
Maybe even some Mapping are not working i don't know.
Please help me. I'm so bummed about this..
10x.
Dor.

With my old 8500LE, for Mafia to work, I have to go to the control paned under D3D options, manyally change the 3x to 2x SmoothVision and then i turn back to aplication preferenced and it works for me. It's very very strange, but you could try if it would work for you. Good luck.

Do you have the desktop and the game set to 32-bit colour?

Thats odd - I know for sure that NOLF2 works with FSAA on my 9700. You have removed the check from the FSAA checkbox?

WEll, I had a similar issue when dealing with BF1942... Probibly not related however because with that game it was because I was using custom refresh rates... and that game doesent like anything but 60.
Could be useful... and it sounds like it's a bit depth problem... I think we need more information... The checkbox is called application preference and its located beside the smoothvision slider under the D3D tab.

Ok let's try this.
Tell me what settings to put on the panel.
antialiasing - app pref on? or just x4
any other settings that might affect this?

Dumb point, but a point.
On "Mafia" you got to enable AA thru the "setup.exe" proggy that's in the same directory as the "Mafia.exe" program. Run that and enable it, then set AA to "application preferred" in the D3D set-up.

the problem is that it's always off on the setup
it says FSAA - off. and there is no option for on
the problem is with hitman2 and NOLF2 too..
so i'm sure it's not the software it's something with the drivers or DX9.. i can't believe no one had this thing b4..
and ATI support will answer me in a couple of weeks if they will ever replay my email.

Sorry for bumping a old thread but I have the exact same problem as this guy. Have a Sapphire Radeon 9700 Pro, running on win XP SP2. I have tried to enable FSAA in several games, Prince of Persia, GTA-VC, Spellforce and Evil Genius but it doesnt work. Have latest Omega drivers installed: rad_w2kxp_omega_2590. Anyone know what may be wrong ?
