exclamation NO DSHOW with radeon 9600 :(

Hello guys

I have an ATI Radeon 9600 pro and i am using Omega drivers 2675.
My problem is that for reasons unknown DSHOW is missing so Videos
in games play black only sound , msn webcam is black ,video players
using DX to accelarate video produce black video and also i have problems
in using my TvTuner in DSHOW mode.

My system is:

-Supermicro P3DDE
-Chipset VIA VT8633
-Dual P3 1Ghz
-1 Gb ram
-2x40 Gb hard disk raid 0
-Yamaha sound card
-Ati Radeon 9600 pro ( with omega drivers OC : Core Speed 440 --- Memory speed 222 )

-Hauppauge TvTuner (with 3rd party drivers from http://btwincap.sourceforge.net)
tuner shares irq with onboard ethernet --- never had problems with this 3rd party driver )

To give you a example of how fast the machine is it can play Quake 4 at 800x600 ( thanks to omega drivers ) it may not be the best machine around but it sure meets the requirements of DSHOW

So far i have tried reinstalling windows ( with and without SP2 ) changing drivers for video card and TvTuner but with no luck still NOSHOW .

Any help will be appreciated

Thanks

You may need the WDM file for the driverset you are using.

The file is available from ATI, but you would need the file for the Catalyst 5.10s - have you tried that?

And you might try re-installing DirectX 9c, then the motherboard and chipset drivers if that doesn't solve the problem...

Let us know...

No Direct draw

I have tried reinstalling DirectX no change then i reinstalled the whole windows again , i tried
2 versions windows XP with no service packs and windows XP SP2 some problem, I also
moved the Tvtuner into another pci slot to see if it was an irq conflict no luck either
I have tried omega drivers 2.6.71 and 2.6.61

i will have a look at the WDM of just mentioned thanks

any other ideas ?

Reason I asked you to try the WDM file is that ATI includes it in their driverset - I don't think Omegadrive does...

maybe the latest driver from Hauppauge then, along with the latest chipset drivers for your mainboard...

Oh, remove any overclocks if you haven't already...

A different approach would be to remove the tuner - and install from scratch one more time. Your video card alone should play videos, work with your webcam software (something else to consider...), and use DirectX 9.0c without issue. If all installs and works from there, then get on with the tuner and see how it affects your system.

No Dshow

Thanks for the replies swimtech

The problem is not the tuner because if you look at my previous posts
i stated that i have problem is with everything that is supposed to be
Dshow accelerated such as videos in games ( all black ). Since my last
post i tried several drivers for the ati radeon 9600 including the NGO no
change . Could it be a false setting in Bios ???? because everything
seem to be in order in windows. Is anyone having this problem or am i
the only one ? Could it be some incompatibility with my dual system ?
both the ati radeon and the tv tuner were working in other machines
( i used bits and pieces of other spare machines to built my dual p3 )
with no problem what so ever.

bye for now

Oh yes, my train of thought was that the tuner software might be interfering with the driver software in the version of the driver you are trying. That's why I suggested eliminating the tuner from the system, getting the video card and driver working properly in games and for videos, then add in the tuner card after...

exclamation ???????????

I have one more thing to add that helps to describe my problem. The performance in
2d graphics in windows in a bit bad. For example when you maximise a window you
can actually see it getting bigger to fullscreen size something like old laptops used to do
i hope you understand what i mean. I really dont think it hardware failure just a stupid
glitch bug somewhere :P
