Problems with X850 Pro and older games....

Hi,
I just bought a Radeon X850 Pro and it works great with new dx9 games but I am getting very low Framerate in older Games.

1 Game I am having problems with is F1 Challenge 99-02, Even though the benchmark for F1 Challenge w/ X850 Pro Omega Catalyst 5.9 has Great numbers...

Triangle Rate 97.8 MTri/second
Texture Detail Full
Object Detail Full
1024x768 32bit color

but the framerate is aweful even with everything in game set low. I know my new card is Optimized for dx9 and I think thats why I am having performance issues with F1C.

Anybody have any Ideas how I can get this game to perform better with my New Card???
It should be kicking F1Cs butt with these numbers

My PC
AMD Athlon XP 2400+
768mb ddr
Radeon X850 Pro 256mb ddr3
Soundblaster 5.1 xgamer

Thanks for any help,

Rolone11

Drivercleaner can be found on DH... Search around a bit (menu on the left), the PSU is important but if all your other games run fine, well I can guess it's not PSU (but not certain) and what vidcard did you change from? If it was NVidia, then a format is really reccommended.

OK,
Yes, my last card was a G force FX 5200 Ultra... I got the Drivercleaner and used it for Nvidia then rebooted and windows would not start, so I ran the Windows XP repair and reinstalled windows. Everything started fine after. Then reinstalled Omega Catalyst 5.9 and ran F1C with same results, about 16 FPS but the benchmark numbers for the game are still very high.

I believe it's the card and F1 Challenge, I have read in other race sim forums others saying the X850 series is crap with F1C.

I was hoping for some hint that I might could set in the Omega tray tool that would Kick F1C into gear.

Maybe Omega will make a Driver where we can change the configuration to support dx7, dx8, and dx9 games.

Thanks for the help,

System Specs

Look at the oldest release of driver that supports the x850 and see if that helps

I have actually installed every driver that supports X850 from Catalyst 5.5 to 5.9, all with the same results, bad FPS in F1 Challenge.

I know it's not my PC, because rFactor runs at 60 FPS with everything on Full and a full field of cars. It is a new dx9 racing game made by the same people who made F1 Challenge (ISI)

I have read that the Catalyst 4.6 was the last driver that really works well with F1 Challenge, but of coarse 4.6 doesn't support the X850.

It sucks paying $300.00 for Card that doesn't run my favorite racing game. I'm gonna take it back and get a G-Force 6800 GT, I know they kick butt with F1C.
