exclamation seemingly complex s-video problems

hey everyone, i tried searching quite a bit on here as well as google with no avail...so hopefully i wont annoy many. been working on this problem all day.

i have a toshiba satellite A75 laptop with ati mobility radeon 9000IGP graphics.

What I have been trying to do is play dvd's, movies, etc, from my laptop and watch them on my tv.

My TV does not have an s-video port, but instead rca inputs. I bought an s-video to RCA cable in the assumtion it would work. First off, I have tried the S-video to another tv's S-video, and that connection worked. Plugging in my s-video to RCA cable, however made my computer not "see" the tv. (Common problem around these forums, i know.) The original drivers the computer came with were of course ATI's, however they had to be downloaded/upgraded from toshiba's website and the newest version they have on the site does not even have the troubleshoot option in the cp to force tv detection.

Looking into my options, i came across omega's drivers. I completely uninstalled ati's stuff, and installed the newest omega drivers. the same problem occurred with the s-video to rca cable, even with the "force" option turned on.

A little more reading brought me to a suggestion that someone made to someone else saying that the v4.12 drivers are the best for the mobility series. I uninstalled omega 5.9 all the way, and installed 4.12. This time, I had some luck. With the force option on, and my s-video to rca cable connected, i was able to get picture on my tv. The problem is, the coloring is all messed up. I know all about Pal/Ntsc, and it wasnt an error like this, and my settings are definately correct. The coloring is just really weird...like light blue is dark blue, edges are pink, orange is dark orange/red etc. When putting it in B&W, its great, and clear of coloring problems (of course)...except for the fact that its b&w and i need color. I experiemented with all the settings under the tv option, but none fix it.

So I was wondering if there is a better version of the omegas I should be looking for to fully enable my s-video out port in full color. Any help is very much appreciated.

Thanks!
