In the release notes, it says:

Directional Motion Adaptive Deinterlacing Algorithm

Catalyst™ 5.9 introduces directional motion adaptive deinterlacing algorithm through the 3D shader. The algorithm will detect edges in 5 different directions. This reduces artifacts, and improves the overall detinterlace video quality.

But how does one use it? Surely it isn't just the Motion Adaptive Deinterlacing option in the Control Panel, as that's been there for yonks (and doesn't appear to have changed either)

Yes, I would like to know what this does and how to enable this as well.
Anyone having some benchmark results for BF2, and then DHZer0point vs 5.9 official?

..... like I said- I had the system try menu disabled before with 5.8 cats and had one less CLI process than with 5.9.

2 is spelled "two"... if that is what you meant?

Right but I think-- let me repeat- I think there was only one CLI running after doing the same with the 5.8's.. I would have to re-install then to be sure. I might do that at some point just to check.

Now all three CLI processes run regardless of whether or not CCC is launched or not.

Anyone else notice this???

Well I only have 2- try going into properties and disabling the system tray menu. That is why I think there was only 1 CLI when I disabled the tray menu w/ 5.8.. Now I will have to re-install them just out of curiosity.

Or maybe someone with the 5.8 w/ CCC installed still can check.

Unless this one has already been stated above to do with "deleting" the bf2 startup movies which is irritating as u cant escape key out of them...what u can do to "disable" these intro movies is go into your..C:\Program Files\EA GAMES\Battlefield 2\mods\bf2\Movies..and "rename" not "delete" each of the bik files to say DICE.BACKUP, EA BACKUP and so forth.

It lets me go straight to the log-in screen and not deleting them as stated above should let u do this with no probs..also i picked this up from this rather usefull tweakguide which u may have read before..http://www.tweakguides.com/BF2_1.html.. most notibly this above is mentioned on the last page of the guide oh and btw installed the 5.9 drivers and i have to say that things seemed very smooth when i played bf2 last night for a few hours touch wood..:-)

small edit to that you dont want to rename all the bik files in that folder just EA , intro , dice and legal ...dont make anychanges to menu and menu loggedin

have you maybe applied a monitor refresh rate fix?
BF2 doesn't start up if it can't switch the monitor to 60Hz.
Otherwise you can edit the BF2 config file, but sadly I don't remember the name because I don't have the game. It's either in the cache folder in your personal documents directory or otherwise in the game folder.
I think the line is:
..... = 640x480x60
just modify it to
= 640x480x100 in case you have only 100Hz in that resolution.

Cheers,
pato

How about the fps with DHZer0point vs these? Which driver is better? Or better, which runs smoother?

Otherwise, I just now got the new 5.9s installed and need to spend some time seeing how they perform. I might be gone awhile.
I am using ATTv0.24 with the 5.9CCC and it is working. Haven't tried the latest ATT yet.

"classic" CP will be updated from what CM said.

Future packs maybe CCC only, of course the driver only install with still
be avilable. So you can go with out a CP, use this "classic" CP or Move
on to CCC in the future... Or use 3rd part tools...

Though you miss out on features with out haveing CCC.

What happens when you disable sys tray menu and shut down CCC in 5.8? I'm never going to install them again.. too much of a pain.

Hi Neon_Cowboy,

Did you have CCC open when you took that screenshot of the CLI processes for Cat 5.8? If so, that's why you have the third one there. Close CCC and it will go away. I'll get you a screenshot when I get home and perhaps a tie breaker is needed.

Nevermind. I see that you edited it out of your last post now. I am "all in" as they say on this one. I'm telling you that I am 110% sure that I am right otherwise I wouldn't be making a big stink about it.

I know, but the DHZP had very good fps in BF2, much better then the official 5.8's. I didnt see that much difference in IQ with DHZP vs Official 5.8 (Because I enable most of the tweaks in ATT I think). But did you noticed a boost in BF2, the same, and what about IQ?

Though after going from 5.6 and installing 5.8 directly
over it I now only have 2 and uping back to to .Net 2.0
beta 2 beta didn't change that. So I guess you were right.

I installed 5.9 again down graded to 5.8 again and have 3 CLI's
again. .but I've wasted enough time on this matter and really don't care.

It really doesnt matter if there was 15 cli processes running. There
virtually no differences in system performance or anything it's mostly
all virtual memory being used anyways. No biggie!

I said there has been 3 processes for a long time. Unless you disable
the taskbar then you'll have only 2. Wich beget an aguement when
other people then said with 5.8 that there was only 2 processes and
not 3. It's all over now and we should move on to other things
