That bug in SKOTR 2 really pissed me off and I played through the game by changeing the ingame settings every time it did that. Made the level take twice as long as should have.

Id be interested in getting the real version of that game instead of the hacked up one that we got after they had to edit a ton of the game out.... Would be nice if the ending actualy made any sense.... They cut out whole areas of that game.

Any performance boosts in CSS?

Your 'fix' slows down other parts of the game so isnt recomended.

You dont need the CCC running in the background for the driver to work.

These drivers seem nice so far. However, I have noticed that there are now three CLI processes running at all times with this release whereas in Cat 5.8's, only two would run until you launched the CCC and then the third would show up and close once CCC was closed. Now all three CLI processes run regardless of whether or not CCC is launched or not.

Anyone else notice this???

It's been that way for awhile now the are 3 running and if your disable
the task bar application you'll then have two. When you install CCC the
taskbar is enabled by default so if you disabled it in the past that why
you have 3 now. It been discused in previous release threads.

One is the run time, one is CCC dashboard, one is the task bar
application each process only takes up a few MB of ram but I disable the
taskbar application as its one less. thing to load when windows starts and
I never use it anyway.

There is something "some what" new wonder if anyone will notice

I have to disagree with you on that Neon. I have my two other machines running Cat 5.8's with CCC installed and there are only two CLI processes running with the task bar app running. I'll give a print screen if you'd like but it was well documented that the "bonus" of Cat 5.8's w/CCC was that only the third CLI process showed up after CCC was launched and then went away afterwards.

Why do I get a 403 error code when I click the Release Notes link in Z's first post?

What's with all this new "leech" crap at ATI site? You can't link into it anymore so links in 1st post above do not work. In fact, when I navigate directly to the driver page and click on the release notes, I can't see it -- claims I'm still leeching?

In fact, every single link to somewhere on the ATI found on every page here and in every other forum stopped working when they changed their web site a few months. This is really annoying because these links found in posts here are almost always the *only* way to get to various technical notes. The search function on ATI's site has never worked. Please fix it, ATI!

Also, thank you ATI for including the "classic" cp in this release. Last month was supposed to be our last classic cp, no? So getting another one in this release is a pleasant surprise.

Yeah I remember the 5.8 w/ CCC had fewer CLI processes than the 5.7's.. I don't have them installed- I have Omega's installed. But I definitely remember that.

ViRuS2k will become famous soon enough
System Specs

downloading now

lots of fixes is very good and all but what about the F.E.A.R optimizations ? or Tweaks.

the game gets released on OCT 18th next month and the drivers where released on the 22nd september that means the game will be released and no drivers will be optimized for it

then again its only 4 days then the next set will be released.

PLEASE PLEASE TWEAK/OPTIMIZE this game for the next set

I just installed them.. installation went very smooth.

When I close down the system tray menu I only have 2 CLI processes going.. The mem usage on them jumps all over the place, but it relatively low..

It goes from 1,400kb each to about 5,000kb...

When I shut the CCC down they start out at about 1,400kb each- then they jump around all over the place from 1,400 to 5,000 or so.. Then one settles down to around 3,400 and the other to around 4,800 or so.. but they jump around.

The VM size is about 35,000kb on one and 41,000kb on the other... pretty solid but it changes a little.

I remember the 5.8 w/ CCC only had one instance of the CLI I think- after disabling the system tray menu .. I would have to re-install them to be absolutely sure though..

PS- I miss my 1200 x 900 resolution I get with Omega drivers as usual. I wish ATI would add a custom resolution feature.
