Getting FF7 to work with X600
hi guys,
I'm at my wit's end at trying to get FF7 to work correctly on ATi cards. Right now, I've installed the WindowsXP patch and the game runs perfectly under software mode, but I can't seem to get Direct3D rendering to work. I know there's a patch for nVidia cards, but ATi's seem to be out of luck. The game is really choppy under software mode, otherwise I would just suck it up and play it that way. Any idea's on what I can do? I really want to replay this old classic. |

I believe you can apply the nvidia patch, and then select one of the new options that will come up, but maybe not, its been awhile since i played the PC version
but your not going to get the 8-bit bla bla bla textures to work with an ati card because its not supported in the drivers, just fyi |

I tried the nVidia patch, and both the TNT and the RIVA128 options let me render in Direct3D, but I lose the 2D background (I have floating models on a black screen)

Check out the 1.02 patch on THIS site. Make sure to follow the instructions, especially relating to the GRU32.DLL error.

If i remember correctly, those artifacts are caused by either AA or AF. If you can deal with the artifacts on prerendered scenes, AA makes battles look alot better

I'd be glad that it plays at all. There is also a program to try to help
you run old games like that. Um... let me think.... I forgot but you need an emulator... might try some from here http://www.zophar.net/windos.phtml http://dosbox.sourceforge.net/news.php?show_news=1 but you will need to find a good emmulator to get it working right. Just how it goes with very, very, very, old games like that.....

the same can be done for FF8 pc,.. all you need is the 1.1 patch and you can mod it with high polygon packs

sure
Sure, but you should follow this thread here. Which is a useful guide to setting all the Reunion's Mod up, I at least found it very helpful.
You'll need 5 files in order to use/mod the game, 1st is the FF7 TnT patch which you can find a link on the thread linked above. LGP tools, the music patch and Reunions Mod, and Saints awesome Hi res Patch, which AA works on ATI cards, I don't have an Nvidia card but Im guessing they work all the same. Music Patch is found here LGP Tools here Reunion's Mod here Finally the Saints Hiresmod is found here There is however a trick into fooling the FF7.exe so you get both the music patch and the Hi res patch to work, you must first, patch the game up using the TnT .exe patch files, then follow that by patching the exe with Saints Hi Res patch, then just patch the music using Centra.exe, which is explained in the "readme" of the music patch rar file. Bare in mind though these mods are either Beta, or just really not intended to look or work right, in certain area's of the game. But in my experiance It works well enough and allows me to enjoy the game even more. Have fun

yeah the music patch is a must have
It gets rid of the midi and basicly adds the psx music to the game, I've modded mine though. Most of the orginal psf files are replaced to some of the Black Mages ff7 tracks.
/riles is that sig Off the trailer park boys? Man that show is well funny.
