New ATI Catalyst Drivers version 3.0
Get the goods!!!!
Be sure to follow my install guide if you have any problems. Some people seem to think just using RegCleaner to remove ATI keys is a clean install... it's not.

How come radeon 9500 and 9700 are certified and all other Radeons are not?

I have no clue. Maybe because those are the only cards to support DirectX 9.

Ok my initial findings with these drivers: Vsync seems to be FORCED ON no matter what the control panel setting is. I had to force it off with Powerstrip 3DM2k1 is down a good 100pts, but I could care less as long as real games are better.

No vsync problems here. 3DMark scores are about the same, but 3DMark was made obsolete when the 9700 hit the shelves. Initial tests show that my stuttering in UT 2003 may be fixed. This still requires more testing though. So far I haven't experienced any problems.
Be sure to follow my little install guide *shameless plug*

Personnally I don't give a monkey's how well DX9/Catalyst3 drivers play games, 'cos I don't!
But, I am impressed to finally get a driver set that does not leave artifacts all over the screen when used with CursorXP!!!

OK, installed the new 3.0 ATI with DX9 and got a rather disappointing performance DECREASE to the tune of 300 points.
Also my system seems slow to respond in all operations. I mean normal window functions are very slow. What's that all about?

I Like !!
Installed Cat 3.0, DX9 lost 150 points in 3d Mark2001se but who cares!! UT2K3 runs smoother and looks great! DVD playback images are smoother sharper and clearer too One thing on Ati's main page where I downloaded the Cat 3's they mentioned a new mmc and hydravision in the Cat package but they're a no show in the download

My score back to nomral after I did I lost 2400 points with AGP diable

I installed them on my 98se rig. I lost 100 points in 3dmark. Some of the little niggling problems have returned that existed in the 2.3's and previous. Rollcage 2, AKA Death Track Racing, does that thing where exiting the program results in video acceleration becoming disabled until a reboot. Big Scale Racing will flash corrupt -liney looking- graphics on occasion. That's the only probs I found so far.
I haven't been as thorough in my testing as I usually am. Not having a 9700 kind of steals some of the fun out of the update.
BUMMER, those demos absolutely do not work with an 8500, I get some error about not being able to find a suitable graphics adapter. I figured that they would at least WORK, even if I didn't see some of the enhanced effects. I mean, they said they were "optimised" for the 9700, not "only for" the 9700....
I guess you have to have a 9700 to be impressed with these new drivers and DX9. -sigh- Maybe when someone finally develops that "infinite cash" wallet......
Anyone want to donate a 9700 to me?
I'll install them on the WinXP rigs tomorrow, of course they only have 8500dv's in them, so I don't expect to be impressed with that either.

very positive for me.....
I installed the new set last night and was initially dissapointed with them, the old stuttering was there. So I performed a clean install of windows XP and installed DX9 from the 220 meg SDK download (got that in 20 minutes) then the new cats.
And no im not saying you guys should reformat and reinstall your operating system just to install these. Its just the way I work with new driver sets, ive my rig also set up with multiple hard drives, so that isnt a problem.
Opengl games are now smooth for me, unlike the previous DX9 sets. D3D games run just as well as the last DX9 Ati set.
3dmark is benching the same for me with no visible loss or increase in score.... still around the 15,000 mark.
A very fine set, ive ran MOHAA, MOHAA spearhead, Serious sam 2, RTCW and a few others, all are working perfectly with no shuddering experienced with previous sets.
The old demos I had downloaded from the ATi site didnt work so the new versions had to be redownloaded. Screensavers are also very pretty.
I am keeping these on, nice IQ and work great in games. They also appear to have solved some issues with my dual monitor setup and ultramonitor 2.

Well, I after putting in the drivers and getting those diaappointing results, I downloaded the DX9 redistributable (the 32 meg one) and regained about 50 points in 3DMark. So I only lost 50 points.....
Where is that big mega download of DX9? I didn't spot it. I might as well get it.
