I will need 7 and half hours to get it on 64K ISDN (at full speed), so let's say 8 hours.
What do you think, is it worth getting? Will it be there the whole time?

I used FlashGet to d/l it. It came in at 72-77k per sec. it took about and hour. My Max speed is 80k per sec.....our ISP wants $10 more per month to uncap our speed....maybe one day.....

As to whether it's worth it.....I don't know, I just wanted to have the file.....just in case.....

Mobility 7500

Has anyone tried this set with a M7?

I hope this new set fixes some problems a lot of users has had with Cat. 2.5 (with NWN for instance)

Has the .inf file changed a lot? I'm not sure I could modify it to make it work with my Laptop, if the structure has been altered significantly.

Looking forward to hear some from a pioneer

Does anyone know why fast writes are disabled in the SMATGART section of control pannel? My 8500 should be fine with fast writes, but no matter how often I change this setting, the control pannel always switches it back. It seems ATI are telling me what is good for me, no matter whether I like it or not. Does anyone know a way to resolve this?

Regards,

Q

Looks like, solved problems with NFS6 on 8500. The game runs fine on maximum special effects setting.

Unfortunately I haven't had the time yet to check them by myself. I was looking though at the .ini and .inf files and they seem to have the usual structure; correct me if I'm wrong: the procedure to modify them should be the same as usual(Link to the forum thread...).

yep, works like a charm.. NwN still doesn't work, but that's nothing new since catalyst 2.5. Bioware have fixed the problem, but only for 8500+ card holders.

Ack!

Now it's refusing to detect my AGP as anything other than "nonexistent"!

Nothing 3d will run. 2d performance is really slow.

Anyone else had this problem? My system is now useless. This happens with any driver besides the one that came on the CD with my 9700 Pro.

How can I kill SMARTGART?

All right, I fixed it by doing a super-clean install of Catalyst 3.0. Thanks for that guide Genius!

One thing though... I have no advanced control panel.

If I install the ATI control panel will it install SMARTGART? I know SMARTGART controls are on it and I don't want to risk ending up with no AGP again.

ATI Radeon 7500 Problems...

I am using Windows 2000 Advanced Server w/ Service Pack 4 instlled...I am currently using a Radeon 7500 Radeon card...I just installed DirectX v9.0 and the new ATI Catalyst 3.0 driver. The problem I am having is that when I try to play any type of video whether it be Quicktime, AVI, MPEG, & DivX the video does not show up. The sound is great, but the the video screen stays black. Any ideas as to what I can do to rectify this?

Seriously guys.. does anyone know how to get rid of this SmartGart crap? I know what's good for me and I don't want ATI making up my mind for me... It says its diabled Fastwrites - and every time I try to change this and reboot (WinXP professional) it just reverts back. Arrrg! Its very annoying! I lost 500 points off 3D mark too...

Please can someone tell me how to fix this?

You can do nothing here.
Wait for ATI to release an updated version which will not disable it.

Sad

OK, I did a clean install following the instructions posted a thisa site. Performance is still below the 2.5 drivers with 8.1 DX.

Also most of my games crash to DT after a very few minutes of play:

1. Ghost Recon
2. Desert Seige
3. Island Thunder
4. MOHAA Spearhead
5. The Thing

Any one want to take a stab at whY??

Also my system seems slow to respond in all operations. I mean normal window functions are very slow. What's that all about?

Manually update your drivers from the ATI folder. What it is happening is the process for smartgart cannot start up because it cannot find the path to the file it needs. To verify this will work go under advanced properites for your card and see if Smart Gart is grayed out.

Pissed

UPDATE!!!!

Additional problem. Comanche4 has the Campaign and Multi-Player functions grayed out so I can not start the game at all!!!

I did try updating the drivers from the ATI folder as recommended but the SmartGart tab was never grayed out anyway.

Going back to Nvidia I think!!

LOL

Don't go back to Nvidia (they make mistakes often, I'll remember a lot of BSOD's with the 21.83 WHQL drivers) beacuase of a driverset which fucks op, then you soon ends up using SIS onboad gfx with xp standard drivers! Go back to 2.5 or wait for 3,1.
