.net framework required?

Is .Net framework required for the CCC, but not with the control panel correct?

Run the install for 5.8 and cancel it before you choose which package to install.

Then go to C:/ati/support/ then to what ever driver folder is
and then go to the driver folder and run setup.exe

This will install the 5.8 driver and let you keep 5.7 CP, works great!

Thanks, but it's not that important. I'm still on the Omega 4.12s, I just like to try the new drivers and see how they compare to what I use.

A great release with a lot of good and wanted fixed, great job ATI.

Also nice to see CCC has been improved alot lately and the 5.8 version really runs great and the mem usage is way lower then the older ones, a bit more tweaking and it's becoming perfect.

All though it seems the OpenGL improvements has stopped, some month back you were talking about improving the OpenGL drivers alot, seems to me this has stopped But maybe something special for 5.9 together with support for r520?

BTW, if you have any old, used, abused, dusty, even crusty AGP cards laying around that are faster than a 9700pro- that would be a great prize for very loyal, but very broke DH fans. (like me!)
hehe.... can't blame a guy for trying.

Goes w/o saying.. DH and ATI rock!!!!!!!!!!!
Assuming people ask for it then you'd assume they will incorporate it.
But if they do the there goes a part of the the enthusiast crowd for
Using moded drivers.

I'm not sure about the legal disclaimer that would be required because even
if you don't hold Ati at fault if you fried you monitor you would associate it with
them. Even though you may know what you doing a good 90% of users
don't and yes they will hold a grudge @ ATI after going “what this?” and frying
their expensive monitor.! Their fault , they will be complaining to ATI, calling emailing,
tech support. People that many would even besides being be angry and would buy
a competitors product.

As I’ve argued with you in previous release threads it opens a Pandora’s box
a mini suck fest for the good people at ATI. Just like why there are no overclocking
tool (With the exception of overdrive which is a much safer o/cing for XT cards).

Always owned ATI. Strayed once to a VooDoo and quickly paid the price. Used them ever since. Including having my new 9800 shipped to me in Baghdad, Iraq during my year there. Survived the heat and sand without so much as a glitch. Never will I go to another brand.

I seriously recommend you try the set with CCC, then if you dont like it, deinstall CCC and use the CP from 4.7.

I think you might like the performance improvements over previous sets. worth a shot right?

I won't lie, untill 3dfx went under and ATI started challanging nVidia strait out with their Radeon cards I wouldent touch them.

I also remember the days when Radeon 9800s just came out and every one agreed that the card owned nVidia's, but the drivers were garbage.

Luckly today we get the best of both worlds! - Good cards, good drivers = excelent game experince.
