Not much improvement but that was using my 9000 mobility at work. They are really stable though with FPS in game.

In your opinion, should I sugest my non techi friend upgrade his 9700's drivers to 5.8 (all he does is play wow) or just leave them 5.7? Because, I'm going to have to walk him through it if he wants to upgrade... so basicly wondering if its worth the time.

well medium machine and high graphics(no FSAA/AA) and 1024x768

then i use FRAPS and all you need is assing a key to min,max,avg fps and off you go
stutering yes but much!! less

some fraps on FC HL2 comiong up

Improvement suggestion:

Is there any chance that ATI will offer custom resolutions in the future, maybe as an option with a disclaimer? (in the same way Omega drivers do).. It would be a great way to get the most performance out of people's CRT monitors.
I am going to try this set with the CCC still, and just use 1152 x 864 instead of 1200 x 900... I want to check out the CCC and see how much of an improvement there has been since the last time I tried it. By the majority of reports it has improved quite a bit.

BTW, if you have any old, used, abused, dusty, even crusty AGP cards laying around that are faster than a 9700pro- that would be a great prize for very loyal, but very broke DH fans. (like me!)

hehe.... can't blame a guy for trying.

Can't wait untill I can get my new pc built - 2gigs of ram and a pci express Radeon X800ls (256mb) ...

Be crusing then... happy I will never have had to experince "The Stutter" though...

ATi now releasing drivers on DH before an official release.


*Me grumbles and waits for the release of the mobile catalysts tomorrow so I can install a fully WHQL certified driver on this system and see if they fix the slight "scan-line" issue I'm having with Need For Speed: Underground.*
