Catalyst 5.8 released (and on DH a day before ATI.com)!

Fixed it. The installer had installed the 2k-files for some reason. Used manual install from Device Manager and chose the XP-inf and now everything works. "minor" flaw in the installer you could say...

I'm feeling a bit festive today, and in the mood to give away stuff to the driverheaven community. Here is what I have lying around that I will send to a lucky winner

1) Unopened version of Atari's Act of War (great game by the way)
2) Brand new XL sized, grey "Property of ATI Tech X850" T-shirt
3) My X700 256MB PCI-Express graphic card that I used only for a bit of testing. I am not sure if this card works or is busted, but you get it as is. No refunds, no exchanges. Its just my engineering sample board. Consider it a cool paperweight if it doesnt work.

Simple rules:

I will pick a random post that is created starting from right now and until the time we post CATALYST 5.8 on ati.com tomorrow (about 23 hours from now i.e. 3pm Eastern time on Aug 17) .

To enter the contest just post whatever you have to say and at the end of your post put in "DH and ATI rock". The more you post the better your chance of winning.

At 3pm EST tomorrow (or around there), I will pick a random post on this thread starting from #63 (and assuming you have the magic phrase at the end of your post) and let Zardon know of the winner who will post your name on the front page of DH as the lucky winner.

I always keep things short and sweet.... but damn good drivers are these 5.8's...Still need to test out the more recent games,not to much time available.

Hehe thats cool. I bought a T-Shirt from ATI when 9700Pro came out. That was my first ATI card and since then I have owned 9600Pro, 9600XT, 9700Pro, 9700Pro AIW, 9800XT and now X800Pro. Good luck everyone and thanks to DH and ATi for their excellent service!

I ended up just cleaning up drivers and installing 5.7 then unpacking 5.8 install and just installing 5.8 drivers alone.

Tee Hee Zardon, seems like CM not only wants to melt your servers with a sneak of the new driver, now he wants to melt your main site with a competition.

The drivers installed well, my main wow factor so far has been the response of the CCC, it appears to be a whole faster on my system.

Step 1:
Run the install, then before choosing which package you're going to install, exit the install.

Step 2:
Go to c:/ati/support/5-8_xp-2k_dd_ccc_wdm_enu_25203/Driver

Step 3:
Run Setup.exe

CS source seems to perform a lot better now for me, which gives me a nice advantage

. The CCC, as ever, continues to improve. Overall i'm one happy customer.
