Thank you very much Terry and Zardon for putting this together for us a day early. I think some of the people here are unappreciative for all you that goes into these, just ignore them and keep it up. I am gonna make the switch from CP to CCC for this, wish me luck. I installed the .NET software and updates so it should be fine.

Why no early release of the regular Control Panel set?

Any way to just install the driver?

yes unpack the CCC version and do a manual install of the driver via windows. However give the CCC a shot, its pretty fast now.

why? Well quite simply because i want everyone to try out the CCC. And this just may force you to.

If you dont want to, then just wait for tomorrow for the regular scheduled posting.

The CCC is what ATi is promoting right now, so it makes perfect sense to release the CCC version first. I was under the impression that the 5.7 driver was going to be the last one that offered support for the normal "CP". Anyway, you will have get used to the CCC because sooner or later ATi will stop supporting it. Also you can install just the driver; but how are you going to change/tweak the driver to your taste if you don't have a control panel?

No big deal.

I just copied the driver components from the 5.8 set you released into the 5.7 CP set and I am running 5.8 with the CP just fine.

Glad it worked out good for you. Hey once you have it for a few days dont forget to rate this driver from 1-10 for me. It helps track our progress

Rate Catalyst 5.8 (driver only) to vote just for the driver itself

Rate Catalyst 5.8 (CCC only) to vote just for the version of CCC

Probably.

Sorry, but I'm just not convinced with CCC yet, especially combined with a now pretty outdated .NET (that I also refuse to install) that M$ doesn't seem to want to keep updated.
