Major 9600 XT hassle.

Ive tried updating my drivers twice now, both times I have the same problem.

When I load to windows desktop (which takes forever with the new drivers)

everything is extremely sluggish, like right clicking to get the menu for something will take a while, its like the screen is refreshing super super slow, the mouse appears to scroll at normal speed.

I checked my moniter refresh rate to see if it was jacked, Im *fairly* computer literate, (i build my last 3)

this is the first t ime ive encountered a problem like this.

The only fix I seem to have is rolling back my drivers. So im kinda nervous to use the driver clean program because Ill have nothing to rollback too.

ALSO.

On my device manager it says
9600 Series
9600 Series (secondary) I only have 1 agp card installed, I tried removing them both, and they both came back, its confusing the hell out of me.

You can't uninstall the drivers from Control Panel > System.. that's defeating the purpose here.. use Drivercleaner and read the readme.. it isnt going to blow your computer up and i'm sure that anyone will tell you that it's an easy program to use and if you want to install fresh cat's then you need to clean the registry of the old ones or your going to get the exact same problems that your having now. Make sure you download the updates with drivercleaner also. Also if you want to click the link I have in my signature and read the first paragraph about uninstalling your drivers then do so.. it'll help. Good Luck m8

You have 2 of them because your card has 2 display heads so each one is recognized as its own device

Well, I did the driveclean, I installed netframework and got the biggest newest catalyst install, with the control center,

I had the problem on boot, and after abotu 20 seconds I got some message from control center (was aggervated so didnt pay attention)

and my screen flashed and all is well.

I picked up a lot of points in aquamark too.

I think you have to reboot anyway after it installs drivers so it properly initializes 2D acceleration, because that always happens to me. CCC just reinitializes the display driver and consequently 2D acceleration happens
