Visiontek x850xtpe not displaying overdrive or smartgart tabs.

I just purchased the pci-e version of this card and did a clean install of windows xp pro. Installed the latest 5.6 drivers on both the old control panel and new control panels. Anybody know why my smartgart and overddrive tabs are missing?

thanks

ATI disables these options on some cards, you will need to use a third party driver program to overclock or adjust the Gart settings. I have a PCI-e X800XL and I am missing the same things. Powercolor tech support told me that ATI has driver protection in their drivers that turns off some features of the control panel.

I have heard that smartgart only applies to agp and not pci-e. Can anyone confirm that this is true?

I don't think PCI-e supports smartgart just agp, not sure about overdrive though.

make sure you have the ati hotkey service set to automatic. for whatever reason, that has to run in order for the overdrive to appear.

Interesting. The AGP x800 cards seem to only change the GPU clock, not the VRAM clock when OD is enabled. Apparently, there are two scales by which the timing can be counted-- about a 6MHz step, or one that is ~0.5? MHz. For example, my VRAM clock is sometimes set at 446MHz, other times at 452MHz, as compared to the rated value on the product box of 450MHz.

Anyway, I seem to recall that there was a bug discussed before where one of the tweak utilities (ATT? ATIUtils?) that would switch which scale was being used without resetting the clock value properly for the new scale, which would cause your settings to change by large and unexpected amounts.

I've had OD move by GPU from 476 to 506, but after the card heats up, it falls back to 500 or 493. (Or 492, depending: the drivers seem to round the number differently from release to release.)

What card do you have. only the x800 series, 9800XTs and some 9800 pros support temp readings (correct me if im wrong anyone)

sign up for the beta forum and download the newest, one just came out, the .25 beta 1. If that doesnt work, give ATI Tray Tools a try.

ATI Tool should work on X800 series, I don't know if W1ZZARD supported the X850's with the latest public release.

In any case Radlinker will still work

They should offer the beta off of the forum, or just make more official releases IMO
