Radeon 9500 non pro, and a radeon 9800 pro 256 ... what can i do

I am kinda new to this and have a 9500 non pro with the red pcb and l shaped ram, I used the old omega drivers to clock it as a 9700, what can i do now? Are the new omega drivers capable of that as well?

I also have a 9800 pro 256, what can i do to squeeze the most performance out of it?

Thanks

yes the "new" - haven't had a new set in ~1month+ - omega drivers come with the 9500-9700 softmod driver you can chose during the installation. the omega drivers also conveniently come with the 9800SE-pro/Pro-XT softmod drivers so just choose what you want during the installation

You might just try a straight overclock..see how far you get in ATI Tool

Hi Thegve,

This propmpted me one question on my 9600XT. I'm on Omega and I chose the default non-sofmode during installation and I did OC my card. (The "1st Option").

So, do you think I should had used the 9800 sofmode instead, for better perfromance and OC on my 9600XT? (The "3rd option") or 9600XT can not use this 9800 Sofmode?

I need you advice. Thanks !

@kevin yup you're just going to have to rely on some good overclocking

Well, my Sapphire 9600XT (256MB) is at 499.50 / 297 default.

I OC it to 540.00 / 310.00 with stock cooler and so far so good!

I think its GPU can be OC much higher but not the Memory, but I just do not dare with the stock cooler!

Monitor the temperatures with ATI Tool. As long as it runs artifact free for a good while, it should be OK..

On stock my friend took that exact same card to 560/333 without issue. Further RAM cooling and a new cooler allowed 610/345 speeds.
