Or WCPUID.

Maybe looking at Dell's site would help find what it is.

If its an Intel CPU and its a Dell you're looking at a 80% chance that its an Intel chipset. (Why if its an Intel CPU, Dell only works with Intel)

Dells use only intel chips. It's just a matter of finding the right drivers for the chipset your MoBo uses.

Is that the machine? My friend had one and threw it out because it had SD-RAM...

But this may be it:

"In short, you'd have not quite the state of the art, but the state of the sweet spot. You'd have the Dell Dimension 4400, based on Intel's new 845D Pentium 4/DDR chipset and priced at $1,298

From the Intel website:
Some motherboard manufacturers adopted the "845D chipset" name to distinguish the motherboards that support SDR (Single Data Rate) SDRAM from the motherboards that support DDR (Double Data Rate) SDRAM. What is referred to by some as the "845D chipset" is really just the Intel® 845 chipset with DDR SDRAM support.

So you would need to following Chipset driver:
Intel 845 (aka 845D) Chipset Driver Download
