Wierd Graphics glitch

Hello, not sure where i should be putting this question, but this forum seemed close enough.

Anyway, i keep getting screwy graphics on my pc, but only when it is booting up, or when im playing games. In windows, everything is fine - no glitches, movies play well and sound great.
Here's a couple of screenshots of what i meen:
This is normal windows:

This is for battlefield 1942, which was a fresh install:

And here's another from half-life2 stress test, with windows working fine in the background:

anyway, im pretty sure its the graphics card, though i don't know why windows aint affected.
Are there any tools out there to determine where/what the problem is, or should i just get a new card? Oh, its an ATI 9800 pro 256-bit.

Any help is appreciated,
Thanks, Slickire

Sounds like the card is fried. Try testing it with ATI Tool to see if it generates all kinds of artifacts at stock. Then you scream and get it warrantied

It may not be bad...it might just need a bit more tweaking or another look or a settings change.

But be prepared to RMA

yea, you're right, the card is fried. I used that ATI Tool thing and it was beeping like mad.

It must just be the 3d hardware part thats bust, cause windows works fine.

Anyway , thanks for your help, ill have to look into getting it RMA'ed. although i bought it through ebay

Thanks, Slickire

Take it back where you bought it...unless you did it online but if you did it through a place they have online RMA's
