Radeon 9600 support 1680 by 1050?

New 20 inch Acer wide screen: Having a little difficulty getting the 9600 to support the native resolution of the Acer at 1680 by 1050 using ATI 5.5 drivers. Ati control panel only gives me 1600 by 1200 in that range.. Omega mod works at 1600 by 1025 and claims 1680 by 1050 in the control panel but when I set this rez the bottom of full screen windows is cut off . Any one getting the 9600 to operate at 1680 by 1050 properly?

you can try disabling ddc and see if you can use the resolution then.
display settings>advanced>displays>monitor>uncheck use ddc

THANX for the look. I tried that to no avail. Maybe I should enable it and see what happens. ;^]

when you enable it, it uses the edid info on the monitor to say what resolutions it supports. you can also try unchecking hide modes this monitor cannot display.

I wonder about the card's performance at this resolution - I think that ~1024x768x32 is the highest u can do without slideshow effects.

yep, maybe word processing can cope? 1680 by 1050 (or similar) quite a bit to "paint" on screen especially in 32 bit mode. Anyone tried it already?
I don't have much hope since I know this card.

seems fine except a little stuttering on full screen dvd's on the secondary 1600 by 1052 monitor. The first primary monitor is 1200 by 800. I do not play games much however. Is this too much for a 64 meg ATI 9600?

"but when I set this rez the bottom of full screen windows is cut off"
it could be that your refreshrate is set too high/low so its appearing messed up

I certainly would not recommend a 9600 as a widescreen gamer's card. For my 9600 a resolution of 1024x768 is the limit.
