So... did they fix the broken custom resolutions? I didn't see it as a known problem or as a fix.

and what exactly is that?
The other thread was closed- the problem is that you cannot use custom resolutions with any of the latest ATI drivers- even using the Omega's based on them does not fix the problem.

You cannot even make custom resolutions using third party programs.
I use 1200 x 900 @ 75hz, so I cannot use any drivers past 5.2 I think- not sure what version the custom resolutions were broken in first. I am using the omega's based on 4.12's now.

I hope they fixed it, maybe someone can try using a custom resolution to see if it works.

Could anyone explain to me what this problem is in this LINK It's Half-Life 2 (incase you can't tell).

There is no overclocking present in my system and nothing is overheating (this was my VERY first guess). This problem is also *NEW* to the CATALYST 5.5 release, it was NOT present in 5.4 or earlier releases. This type of corruption is also in sprites (weapon icons/fire). I've also tried to turn on/off alternative pixel center (this used to fix similar corruption in BFV).

BTW...I'm really interested in fixing this issue. CATALYST 5.5 is really performing well on my other games (aside from this issue). If this turn out to NOT be a game/configuration error I will just report it to ATI.

SPECS:

AthlonXP 2600+ (SSE/SS2/MMX/3DNOW enabled in-game).
Radeon 9600XT (no overclocking)
1024 RAM (433mhz)
FAST-WRITES ON
0s wait-state (read/write)
AGP Sycnronization ON

Try 1200 x 900 and tell me if it works- you can use any number of 3d *edit- 3rd party, not 3d* apps to do this. Thanks.

I'd like to test these out, but I don't want to waste the time if custom res. don't work.

Since there's no seperate thread for the 64 bit drivers I thought I'd mention a problem I came up with for them here. After installing the new driver two unrecognised devices appeared. Looking down my full devices list I noticed that the rage theater WDM driver and video codec had disappeared, telling windows XP x64 edition that these unknown devices were the rage theater chip on my X800pro VIVO seemed to work.

Anyone test these with HL2? Or are the 5.1's still the fastest?

System Specs

It is always worth testing the upgrade they do not always say all the stuff that gets fixed or cleaned up on EVERY release.

the halflife 2 issue has nothing to do with ati and is a result of halflife's stream update.

it has the same affect on nvidia.

No, in the last 5x sets (after 5.1) there was an issue with CSS and sluggish performance, now if i put 5.2, 5.3 etc on, i get horrible performance, if i go back to 5.1, 4.12 it plays smooth.

Can anyone tell me why Trackmania Sunrise (Full Game) keeps rebooting my computer when implementing command prompts (restart, quit, etc.) in the game, while using the 5.5s? It occurs about 10 minutes after playing. After each reboot I kept tweaking the games configuration to no avail.

Furthering, after the 5th reboot I lost my source file and all my earned medals in the races! Anyway, converting back to the 5.4s solved the problem. Clean install for both drivers.

I can safely say this is a 5.5 driver issue. Any help?
