Wide Aspect problems - still can't use Omegas

I have a 22" LCD display that has a native resolution of 1600x1024. Every once in a while I pop over and DL the latest Omegas and install them but they have never let me adjust my display settings higher than 1360x1024 at the desktop, let alone in games. I have tried modifying all the settings that might make a difference without luck.

I *do not* have this problem with original ATI driver nor the DNA drivers. They have both always worked and in fact will allow me to set my resolution higher than native if I choose.

Does anyone have a suggestion on what I can try to resolve this issue?

You could use powerstrip to add in the resolution you need after the omega's are installed. Or you could try modifying the .inf file for the omega driver to include the resolution you need.
A third method is to use regedit to add the mode you need, search HKLM\currentcontrolset\control\class for DALNonStandardModesBCD. This should get you into the general region used by the omega drive device, you will probably find that if you go up one level you have lots of keys numbered as 0000, 0001, 0002, 0003 etc. depending on how many graphics cards or different versions of drivers you have used in the past. Find the two revelent to the omgea drivers you are currently using and go into the settings for them.
The values you need to edit are DALNonStandardModesBCDx where x is a number, modes are defined in these values by a string of 8 hex values for each mode, the first 4 are the screen resolution and the 8th value is the refresh rate. Find a mode you don't use and replace the first four hex values with 16 00 10 24 and the 8th one with 60. Do this for both primary and secondary then reboot. When you restart you should now be able to select 1600x1024 as a screenmode.
