Icon Problem After Overheat?

Hello for some reason my ATI 9700 Pro decided to overheat w/ it running at stock speeds. I got the VPU recover thing, I shut down my PC put a fan on it and restarted after myabe 5-10 mins. When I restarted everything seemed ok except for some desktop icons, and some icons in my folders. I loaded up 2 games and everything seemed ok no artifacts or anything. As far as I can tell the only thing effected has been icons. For example, I have a ATI Tray tools profile/icon for MVP2005. I deleted the one off my desktop and made a new one and the new one was still fugged. I am not sure if some stuff is stored in an icon cache or if my card is toast or what? Any help would be appreciated

EDIT: I should also note that if i cut and paste a messed up icon it remains messed up wherever i paste it too

Doesn't sound like your card has burned out to me. What about websites, are you having difficulties with some? I think TweakXP has a "Rebuild Icons" function which may help.

Does it only affect specific icons or all of them?

websites are fine, i deleted my iconcache.db file and some icons seem to have restored themselves. Before about half my desktop icons were messed up, now only 2-3 of themnare. Some icons is folders are still weird though like for example, my ntuser.dat icon and ntuser.bak. It seems like any 7zip icon is messed up, any icon that doesnt have a program associated w/ it, and my guitar tab pro icons are messed up. But it appears my vid card is ok (WHEW!). Ill try out tweak XP see if that helps or not.

EDIT:Everything seems normal now I forgot I didnt reboot after I deleted my icon cache. After I rebooted all icons appear normal.
