DISCLAIMER: these are fixes that work for me, no guarantees they work for anyone else.
they are really more for omega drivers then ati (at least the file references), but the same problems will happen to regular ati users

A:find your device ID, easy way is have drivers installed start regedit goto
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Contro l\Class\{4D36E968-E325-11CE-BFC1-08002BE10318}
look under one of the 000? keys for the value called MatchingDeviceId
it'll show something like
pci\ven_1002&dev_1234
1234 is the number you want.
if you have dual setup then also get the one for your secondary device, its under one of the other keys called 000? (check the value called DriverDesc to figure out which is which)
now open install.ini and add

B:grab the newest ati drivers and hope they support your card

then open (default folder for just the driverset)
C:\ATI\support\wxp-w2k-?-??-???????-???????\2KXP_INF\CX_?????.inf
look under [ATI.Mfg] for your card (these are examples)
"RADEON Xnothing Series" = ati2mtag_R999, PCI\VEN_1002&DEV_1234
"RADEON Xnothing Series - Secondary " = ati2mtag_R999, PCI\VEN_1002&DEV_1235
copy those two lines then open Radeon Omega Drivers\vX.XX.XX\2KXP_INF\CX2K_RAD_OMEGA.inf
paste the two lines under

it'll show you a section looking like this

you have to copy/paste that into the omega inf, just stick it under the other ones (that look like it).

now we get to go searching for r999 again and we'll get another something like this

ps. if your video drivers arent installed you can use SIV to find out the chiptype (it also supplies information about your system, try the machine button)

this assumes you have ati catalyst v5.2 and radeon omega drivers v2.6.05a setup files extracted
and you have moved the folders wxp-w2k-8-10-050119a-020581c and v2.6.05a to X:\vidtemp (it doesnt matter where you have the folders i'm just using X:\vidtemp for consistency)
you can find wxp-w2k-8-10-050119a-020581c in C:\ATI\SUPPORT and v2.6.05a in C:\Program Files\Radeon Omega Drivers (default install folders)

you can use Beyond Compare 2 to compare the differences between later driver ini files (30 day shareware)

goto start>run>type cmd>type
cd /d X:\vidtemp\wxp-w2k-8-10-050119a-020581c\2KXP_INF\B_20640
type
expand -r *
this will uncompress all the .??_ files
(theres also files compressed in data1.cab and data2.cab but you can ignore those, i dont think i would be allowed to mention the tool needed anyways)

now move all the files into X:\vidtemp\v2.6.05a\2KXP_INF (replace all the files)

they will probably work if you installed them now but lets also update the ini so it reflects our changes

open X:\vidtemp\v2.6.05a\2KXP_INF\FW-On\CX2K_RAD_OMEGA.inf in your txt editor (i'm using the FW-On one for the examples but the same with work with FW-Off {Fastwrites})
first off goto edit>find and replace
for find put

then remove them (you can just remove the two for your card if you dont wish to remove them all)
save the file and install as usual

i recommend you use driver cleaner to remove your drivers first so the extra files wont be hanging around your windows folder.

those are for your video in/video out, you need to install WDM drivers (the usual way is to install WDM drivers before display drivers)
if it still shows up as an unknown device (or two) then you can try manually updating the drivers.
goto control panel>system>hardware>device manager>other devices>right click on one of them and goto update driver>install from a list or ....>dont search i will choose>show all devices>have disk>then browse to your ati wdm\winxp (depending on your OS)
default is C:\ATI\SUPPORT\tv-capture-wdm-XXXXXXXXXXX\
then do the same for the next one and reboot

then reboot into safe mode (press f8 after your bios screen, but before the windows logo shows up). run drivercleaner, remove all the ati entries but the IGP ones. then goto ?:\windows\inf and look for oem?.inf and oem?.pnf files.
when you install new drivers with infs not in the inf folder then windows will make a copy of the inf renamed to oem?.inf, some of these infs will be for ati drivers there will also be some for other drivers so you shouldnt delete them unless you know you have the drivers elsewhere. move them somewhere else and reboot and your done.

for setup files you can usually remove them in add/remove programs.
for the ones you cant remove you can delete the registry key for it at:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\Curr entVersion\Uninstall
for the actual setup files heres the defaults for some of them.
ati stores setup files at C:\ATI\support
omegas are in C:\Program Files\Radeon Omega Drivers
DH zer0point are at C:\Program Files\DHzer0point Drivers\ATI
and NGO's are at C:\Program Files\NGO ATI Optimized Driver v?

one thing that can help if you are having issues with ATi drivers...
1- when freezes.
2-when u get the bsod (blue death)
3- any game or video... crash or restart windows.. atidvag....etc...
the problem maybe is ur memory card and not the AtI drivers, give a check >:]

The triple buffering part.. How do i force this on? I read #16 at the top but i do not understand it. I wont to force it for bf2. Can you explain how you force it on?

And i have the omega drivers by the way..thanks for any help this has been bugging me for a long time

dont wont to bug you but i used ati tray tools to force triple buffering in bf2..

My fps jumped from 42 to 75 but when I load another map (different map with out exiting out of bf2) my fps drops to 30-50s. Do you know the reason for this? I am guessing its wasiting resources or something which is making my graphics card work harder when it doesnt need to.. but i dont know

ill try the other option u posted see if it stops this issue

i dont think dxtweaker allows you to make a shortcut to run, but i know ATT does.
when your in the manage profiles window theres a button that says create desktop shortcut.
you can get .net by searching google or goto the ms download page.

well you said with it off you get 60-83 so getting a monitor with 200 is overkill.
att can render a 3d window (its under hardware>overclocking settings), you can use that to see the max fps you get with vsync on/off. try going to start>run>type in dxdiag>more help>override>then put the max rr your going to use, other than that have you used a program to force a rr or did you just change it through the control panel?

you should test using different games and find out if its bf2 thats doing that or just d3d games.

What you mean? My highest refresh rate my screen can handle is 85

Its just that with it off my fps is 60-80s and never drops... but with it on its 20-30-42-85 it jumps all over the place and its just very laggy.. I tryed lowering my settings, but I did not buy a X800xt to play with low settings in the first place you know?

Dont know what to do... I even read up about oc, and was able to oc my card to pe speeds after breaking my first x800xt

Do i need to go buy something better then a x800xt? Why does vsync effect fps so much

Has to be a way around this..right?

I would test it with different games but like I said bf2 is the only game i have room to install... Ill go download the FEAR demo or something and try that

really been bugging me and I dont know what to do... is my x800xt already getting outdated? Already spent a lot of money on my (first) computer but seems I didnt buy the right stuff i guess

never heard of a 3/4 pin connector its probably a 3 pin or a molex

the smaller one is a 3 pin the bigger is a molex. molex connections are on your psu lines.

Ok I looked as best I could see... I even removed some stuff to get a better look

All I saw was 3 metal sticks (don’t know what they are called, but they stick out)

Then another one that’s the same thing but with 4 instead of 3

Can that big connector connect to the one with 4 pins or not? In that pic you should me of the fan.

The fans I have on now they have 5 pins and the connector is very small
