Newbie - Omega Driver Package
I'm running a ATI RADEON 9800 PRO video card and was using ATI's v4.12 drivers. I installed ATI's v5.2 and my system didn't like those at all.
I always wanted to try OMEGA's drivers, so I uninstalled ATI's and started to install IOMEGA's v2.6.05a (Catalyst 5.1). The installer prompted me to install RadLinker & MultiRes so I cancelled installation. Went to where I had extracted the driver files and just chose Setup.exe. This resulted in just installing the drivers, which is just what I wanted initially. Love the drivers!!! I saved the RadLinker and MultiRes folders from the extracted package. Can I install these separately? I went the RadLinker homepage and have an understanding of waht it's for. What does MultiRes do? Thanks for any replies! |

Omega drivers require RadLinker for best set of options. Multires is a refresh rate locking tool, which works very well and helps your Monitor refresh stay at maximum possible in 3D applications, instead of defaulting to 60Hz. So unless you have an LCD monitor, Multires is highly recommended. Sounds like you are better off reinstalling Omega package with all options.

AS I said, I had previously installed ONLY the IOMEGA ATI drivers.
OK, I imaged my C:\ partition and installed the full IOMEGA package. No problem during the installation and I chose to install MultiRes and RadLinker. Re-booted XP Pro and proceeded through the Post process until I reached the OS login. Nothing there, brown/black screen. Tried messing around in Safe Mode, etc., but no joy. Restored previous image, and manually installed MultiRes. Locked refresh rate and rebooted. No problems. Imaged again (it only takes me 65 sec. with True Image) and manually installed RadLinker. No OS login screen again. RadLinker is the problem. Restored previous image and that's where I'm at. Love the OMEGA ATI drivers though, so all of this has been worthwhile! Just can't get RadLinker to allow me to boot. Here is my system: -ANTEC Sonata Black Case w/380w TruePower -ASUS P4C800-E DELUXE. Which omega drivers version? The early Catalyst 5.1-based build had a problem, and you may need to get an updated 2.6.05a version

Try this:
Uninstall Omega drivers, uninstall everything ATI-related in your system, use Driver cleaner (preferably in Safe Mode), reboot with your network cable unplugged, and install Omega Drivers with everything.
