5.1s make NFS2 Underground (*and other games) TOTALLY unplayable!
Cannot get past the start of each race in NFS2 (before the arms go down). System just freezes with looping sound. 4.12s and everythings OK again. What happened? Any suggestions? My 3 year old loves this game.
*EDIT: Additional research shows others have many lock ups with many games. Card also runs cooler now. Is the card voltage affected with these new drivers? Why? Hotfix? Is there a guinea pig factor included with this new release?

i though it was some other driver, so its that Cats 5.1 which was doing the lock ups. i notice it in Deus Ex2 and City of heros. i hope Ati fix this problem. right when i go to scope to sniper again it did it. and in COh like 20 mins into the game it does it .

locks up in HL2 too (works fine until anticitizen one), back to omega 4.12. Still want to thank them for sticking to the driver updates, hopefully nothing got broken.

looks like it is a good thing i decided to skip this driver update.
for the last 6 months ive gotten every new ati driver the day of release, but this time i just thought something didnt seem right with them so i decided to skip them. from what ive been hearing i think i made the right choice. |

Ive had no problems with this driver under NFSU2 or CoH Claymore what servers do you play on? My mains are all on pinnacle

I had just unistalled NFSU2 so I don't know if I'd get lockups :P So far I got one lock up in CS but had em with the 4..12s too...

the only way i can get nfsu2 and cs:s to run is to lower the oc on the vid card
 with these 5.1s i cant oc as high for some stupid reason  with cat 4.12 i can get 530/600 and with 5.1 i get 520/550

All these reports of lockups.......5.1 run sweet for me,no hitches lockups of any kind.
HL2,nfsu2 and far cry is what i have in my list of games. |

Man I havent had any lockups since Catalyst 4.11, on my AMD system of course
Intel system would have croaked by now..

Interesting...my lockups and lagging have actually been seriously reduced on the new drivers. I love these 5.1s. Actually I'm using the NGO 5.1 cats, so maybe thats why. I'm testing them out for Regenerat1on.
anywho everything seems to be running really well for my new 5.1s quick question that might not have any bearing, but are you guys using the CCC? I dont use it because it destroyed my computer the first time I installed it. I havent touched it since(I like the simpler CP by Omega anyway). Maybe thats why.

Yes we at DNA-drivers get this problem, I think maybe ATI put an overclock lock on the drivers or something... Im sure KS and Omega are trying to fix this bug, and probably even ATI

CS:S freezes in my PC too!!!! At first everyuthing was cool with this driver, but after spending some time with it I have started getting a few freezes on my system while palying CS:S!!
Back to the 4.12's Omega's!!! |

I have np with new 5.1 with CCC games runs great even at 4x AF and 4x AA on I get around 20fps in nfsug2

HL2 Locks up everytime. I had to uninstall and back to 4.12..

god!! i have never seen so many people complaining about the catalyst drivers before.what a hell is happening to ati.i paid a fortune for my video card and these driver are just crap

Those with Audigy's should also realize Creative's sound drivers are HIGHLY unstable. There are tons of Creative customers right now with unstable PC's and no idea why. Just a heads up, this release seems the same for me stability wise.
