Which drivers do you recommend?
Hi all, I've bought an ATI X800 XT PE AGP and it'll be arriving tomorrow. I've never used an ATI card before (always been an nVidia guy) so I don't know a whole lot about the drivers. Which set do you recommend? Should I go for the official catalyst set or the Omegas or a different set? Also, what is this new control panel people keep talking about, is it worth using? I need profiles for games like I had in the nvidia drivers, can't live without that feature. Thanks in advance.

i recomend UniAN drivers always they are the most stable ever, however the omega's will probably run on ALL ati cards out their (if radlinker lets u install them :P)
however if your asking for what performs better, you will have to do the testing yourself!!! - dont let anyone else tell you otherwise.

just wondering since we are on the topic of ATI cards. My brother has a 9600 XT made by ATI. With the drivers he is using (not sure which), he says there as an overdrive feature. This confuses me as my 9700 Pro does not.

As for drivers, I reccomend the newest Omegas, as the performance an IQ is great and the intergration with RadLinker is excellent and convinient.
As for the Overdrive question, only the 9600XT and 9800XT have that feature in the 9x00 series ATi cards.

Everytimes I tried out the Regular Cat driver, It usally not good as the Omega, Dna and Unian Driver. I like any of those three, I've always tried them all and see which one is the best for me. I usally like the Unian Driver, seem stable most of the time.

Thanks for the advice guys. Ev!L-aLphA, there was no way I could wait a few days before getting the card up and running! I tried the official driver set first, was quite impressed and then tried the Omegas - very nice So I'll be staying with them until ATI releases the new set (or Omega compiles his). Thanks again.
