Temporal AA Question

Temporal AA is confusing me a bit

Firstly, what video cards support Temporal AA, exactly? Is it a card feature, or a driver one?

Secondly, are there any known side effects?

Thanks for bearing with me,

Cards from 9500 and later support it, and a possible side effect is flickering edges if the Temporal AA framerate threshold is set low. Turning on Temporal AA also forces VSync to be on regardless of other settings, wich can in turn hurt performance more or less(much more of the game can not be run with triple buffering). I'd say try it in between games.

Welcome to the forum too, btw.

Ahh, I see.

Thanks

What do you recommend for a framerate threshold, then?

The standard ATI value of 60 should be good for most. I'm a little sensitive to flickering so I might raise it a little bit, whereas others can probably lower it a little instead. It's less noticeable in fast action games too when one doesn't stand still so much, but more likely to be noticed in for instance a strategy game. UT2004 and PainKiller has been good games for using TAA to me, but mostly I settle for 2x regular for simplicitys sake.
