Is there a way to switch between two sets of drivers?
I'm planning to use Omega drivers for my games, and my original drivers for watching videos because for some reason the Omega's dont work for watching any type of videos. But my original drivers do work. So is there a way to have both and just witch between them or will them conflict? (I have the MR9700)

well answer to your question, no there isnt a way without reinstalling them
u talking about the latest omegas? cos WMV acceleration (windows movie acceleration) is disabled because of mobile cards, look through your options to enable it, should make things better.

Yeah it still doesn't work even with WMV acceleration. Does it matter if it's the newest version of Windows Media?

Yes you should definitely install Windows Media Player 10 for WMV media. Even if you are mostly going to use some other player like Media Player Classic.

Perhaps it could be related to the overlay video problem mentioned in the Omega Drivers Readme find at the driver over at www.omegadrivers.net. I'm not sure what the exact symptoms of that problem are though.
Code:
1. Well, at last, the fix for the dreaded overlay video on some laptops bug has been found. The cause IS NOT the ATI drivers or any of my settings, the cause is a hardware bug, more specifically a BIOS bug. In the testing, many people already updated their Sager notebooks with a new BIOS provided by Sager and the video problem is GONE! So I encourage you to go to your manufacturer's web page and see if a new bios update has been issued for your laptop, and if not, e-mail the manufacturer so they can rush out a fix for this. |

Having Windwos SP2 wouldn't make a difference, would it?

Same question, different reason:
On my mobility Radeon 9600 I would like to run my ThinkPad's IBM-supplied drivers when not using 3D because the battery consumption is about 20% better than with Omegas and the fan doesn't have to work as hard (which can really drive up the battery usage). When I'm in-game though, I'm usually connected to AC and I want the 20% FPS improvement that Omega + 4.12 gives me. (percentages are at native speed - no OC - clock speed is same with IBM and Omega drivers). Can I upgrade my 3D drivers without affecting battery consumption when I'm not gaming? Thanks for any help! -darren |

Never mind. The new 4.12 driver modded for my mobility chip has the great power management of the old driver *and* the great new speed.
