Secondary Display Adaptor
I have a ATI Radeon 9600 (AGP of course) installed in my machine. In the Device Manager a "Secondary Display Adaptor" shows up. I read somewhere on these boards that you could disable that to free resources, but could not find the thread and post again. Has anyone done this and seen some improved performance?
Thanks.

Thanks. Sounds like it will give you just a slight boost in frame rates. Will have to give it a shot and see what happens.

technically, it doesn't free up much of anything... all it'll free up is 2 sets of memory ranges that are barely in use in the first place. Both "adapters" are located on the same card.... it shows two ramdacs.... and seeing both as seperate adapters...
the 1-3 fps is within the normal variation of any benchmark.....
but if you wish to disable it.... no problem... right click my computer, hit properties.. then hit hardware... hit device manager...
then click the + beside display adapters and right click the SECONDARY, hit disable...it may ask if you wish to continue..... say yes.. wait awhile as the device manger refreshes... close it down... and hit ok back to the desktop... done and done

That's some great info. Thanks. I realize that it might not do much for me, but as my PC is on the slow side of things, I figure if I can free up even a little bit of memory, that will help. Actually disabled it last night, but did not have a chance to play Battlefield and see if there were any improvements.
