hl2 autosaves off
can someone give me the console line to shut the autosaves off.
i have tried: sv_autosave 0 and sv_autosave "0" to no avail. game is running great in 1280x1024 and all settings on high as well as aa-4x and af-8x in the cp.(except for the autosave stutter) intel4 3.0 x800pro on 4.12(beta) 1 gig ram sound blaster audigy 2 |

try making an autoexec.cfg and set it to read only maybe that will help

I did the sv_autosave 0 thing awhile ago in console, and it turned off autosave for me...
I got pretty far (playing for like 20 mins) and died, and I respawned at the point right before I typed sv_autosave 0..... So it should work.... |

sv_autosave 0 stops the autosaves that occur between levels. To stop all autosaves, including the ones that occur while your playing, go into your HL2 saves directory and change the following files to Read-Only:
autosave.sav autosave.tga autosave01.sav autosave01.tga |

can you please tell me where the save game files are (by default), I seem to be having trouble locating them.

They hide them in the SAVE folder
:P so, steam/steamapps/urname/half-life2/hl2/SAVE <--there |

sweet no more lag woo hoo... 256 ram and i can run this thing on all HIGH settings with no lag bah hahaha... nvidia 5500 fx 256 ddr... p4 1.9 ghz... 400 front side bus... direct x 8.0 hardware dxlevel... 1280x1024 85 hertz refresh rate...
amazing how a simple stupid thing like autosaves was the reason for my lag. thnx alot for telling us how to turn autosaves off! :P |
