Battlefield Vietnam & 9800Pro

Hello all.
I have been searching all over these forums for a solution to my problem.

I reformated my HD last week and reinstalled all the drivers. I installed the Omega newsest drivers for my ATI 9800 Pro

When I play BFV, I get pauses during the game, when I moving around. I made some changes in the 3D section of the display drivers and it helped out. But I still get pauses during game play.

Any suggestions on what some of the settings should be?

I'm a noob in regards to settings for my display. some people say to turn off AA or AI. I don't know what that is.

Please help. Thanks.

System Specs

How oftenly does it occurr and when it does, is the harddrive accessing? It's a pretty RAM-intensive game and 512MB could be on the borderline depending on game settings and system configuration.

If you use alot of time on your games and want it all to work out, I'd recommend 1024MB ram. I'm afraid the 512mb gaming system days are over
I'm sure updating to 1024 will help you alot genrally.

I know I updated from 512 to 1024 a long time ago, when I had the same problem as you, but couldn't find out what it was either, when gaming Desert Combat. I then checked the ram usage in large maps in Desert Combat and the system used 640MB ram, which means we're swapping gamefiles

- Threw in another 512MB and the pc hasn't complained since.

Yes, I do.

I turned VPU recover off and lower AA and something else. it works fine now in the medium video settings in the game.

Damn, With that system and it runs like crap. I can run it at high now. I didn't have the cpu running at 2.08GHz like it should. I was running it at 1.25. Now it should even run better when I get my RAM

Runs grrrreat here! Not maxed out obviously, but that's the nature of the beast. I guess I play it for the game and not graphics for the most part..I had the choppyness too with 512mb but I dropped another 256 stick in and it really helped -- make sure you free up ram and kill any programs you dont need too as this game really is a hog.

Umm, what? I'd love to know exactly how you think a software version fried your power supply...

Let me know how it goes on high - I think you need a 256mb card for that really cos it sucks for me. Single player or in small online matches it's fine but anything more than 12 players it chops like crazy. Medium works well IMO, and add lightmaps and shadows if you can handle it. Also make sure to do the following. I use '1000' but your milage will vary. The most common suggestion is to start with 400 and try 1000, and tweak from there but whatever.. http://www.techzonez.com/forums/arch...hp/t-9375.html
