Radlinker in Omega 2.5.90 - Custom Settings Problem
After searching the forums and more or less reading the whole enormous thread on the new Omega release, I didn't find any description of my problem, so I'll dare and start a new thread with my first post.
![]() The problem: When creating RadLinker custom settings for existing desktop shortcuts, they are screwed. I can set all kinds of properties, but after pressing OK and then checking the properties again, I see the R and G Gamma values set to max and the core overclocking (if I activated OC) set to 0 MHz. These settings are applied after starting the link, i.e. without OC a very bright screen with strange colors, with OC a black screen (vidcard crash). If I create new Radlinks, they work just as expected (i.e. fine). > My OS is WinXP Pro without SP2 but all other updates and fixes applied. > I've had RadLinker installed before, working properly with costum settings for existing files. > I installed The Omega pachage two times, first time lazy, second time thoroughly (driver cleaner and all). Made nor difference (well the second time I got the "wrong CP" problem, but reinstalling the drivers form the start menu fixed that), Radlinker Custom settings for existing files behaved the same both times. > I don't know why (probably cause the *.radlink files aren't deleted when Radlinker is uninstalled), but I still had existing custom settings for a desktop shortcut from an earlier RadLinker installation. Those setting worked fine with the new RadLinker install, until I tried to change them... No biggie for me (I've just created some Radlinks an put them onto a toolbar), but strange (and kind of annoying :P) nevertheless. P.S.: Great Project all in all, keep it up, please! P.P.S.: Nevertheless a suggestion: Could the advanced settings for overclocking in the CP be applied automatically for every RadLink? And that's already all I can think of to make your programs even better.

If a Custom Settings item is giving you troubles, do a Remove Custom Settings on it (right click the shortcut or game .exe) and make a new one. I've seen that happen a couple of times myself over a number of Radlinker versions. Possibly it seems to occurr more oftenly when changing the clock rate individually for each application rather than globally in the basic controls. That's just how it seems to have been on my system anyhow.
If you set the clock rates in the regular control panel "advanced 3d" then those values stay with every application until you change it.

Sounds like the radprobe driver isn't installed properly. Try uninstalling RadLinker, reboot, then try installing it again. Have you used a driver cleaner?

Computers are strange - well, I never believed in them being fully deterministic anyway.
![]() mkk, indeed the problem only occurs when using the custom setting's clock tab, not the general in the CP. But what I like about RadlLinker is just the ability to kind of dynamically overclock - I'm using some TC fans in my case and don't mind (even don't notive) their noise at higher speeds when playing an FPS, but it annoys me when brooding over some piece of work. Removing and recreating costum settings didn't change anything for me (with one strange exception in the wrong direction, see below). ChrisW, a fresh install didn't work either. And before installing the Omega package for the second time (after realising this problem) I used driver cleaner, hopefully correctly . I'm reluctant to do it again, since the whole process is a bit tedious. But considering the time I experimented so far it might be well worth it. ![]() I tried some other stuff, though: 1. The "normal" behaviour of the custom settings: As soon as I activate OC, after closing the properties window the value for Core Frequency is set to 0.00, the value for Desktop gamma Red is set to 5.53 and the value for desktop gammma Green is set to 9.27 (both quite senseless), the RGB lock is unchecked. 2. Installed the standalone version of RadLinker (1.014), which behaved the same, wexcluding the non-present settings for desktop gamma of course. 2. After searching my registry, I found some remnants of the Sapphire Game Utility, which I'd uninstalled quite some time ago. I deleted all entries I could find, which led to the following behaviour in custom settings: After applying OC it was set to 385.71 synced, the desktop gamma for Green was set to an absurd value with two digits in front of the decimal point (couldn't read the first one properly) and the game gamma for green was set to 20. The other OC utility I have formerly used and uninstalled is AtiTool, but I found no traces of this. 3. After un- and reinstalling, RadLinker Custom settings' behaviour got back to normal (as described in 1.). One moment of hope, though: The first Custom Settings I created worked properly! But after removing and recreating - well, see 1. Since RadLinks themselves are working fine for me and actually give me all I need (well, RadLinkerwise, that is ), I've lost some of my enthusiasm to dig deeper into this right now. Maybe I'll try another full clean install of the graphics drivers tomorrow.Btw, thanks for a faster (and often better, what I've read on these boards so far) costumer service than some comercial products have to offer! |
